Not their best effort [Posted on 2008-09-28] I really wanted to like this headset. The idea of a case with a built-in battery (worth a complete charge) really appealed to me; and I'm a big fan of Plantronics in general. So, if anything, I unwrapped the box biased in favor of the 925.
First, the good stuff. The case recharges the headset very well, and is small enough to toss into an overnight bag. If you fully charge the headset and the case before you go, the combination should keep you fully charged for the duration of a trip of several days unless you are talking constantly. The headset is also light, and comfortable enough if you like this style of headset. I prefer the over-the-ear variety because they feel more stable; but the 925 does fine for a headset of the in-the-ear genre.
Now for the bad part. Every person I spoke with complained of an echo with the headset. Clarity on my end was fine, but the quality was less-than-solid on the other end. This was surprising to me, since audio clarity is typically Plantronics' strength. After swapping the headset with my son, however, I quickly realized that my friends' complaints were spot-on. I immediately went back to my trusty old Plantronics 510.
Great Headset - Volume and voice quality great as well [Posted on 2008-09-29] I am a former Treo 650 owner who switched to the iPhone 3G. I was never able to find a headset that worked with the Treo - never loud enough or clear on the other end. Well this Pantronics headset is terrific by comparison. Yes, it only has three volume settings, but they are plenty loud and the voice quality is terrific. It is extremely lightweight and paired instantly with the iPhone. I am satisfied. Way to go Plantronics.
Plantronics 925 [Posted on 2008-09-30] California recently put into effect a LAW prohibiting cell use while driving. Someone recommended the 925...I couldn't be happier with the ease of use. It fits comfortably in my ear, to the point that I forget it's there. The sound quality in my noisy van is great. I highly recommend it and Amazon's great pricing!
works better than most BT headsets [Posted on 2008-09-30] I have tried several BT headsets from Motorola and others and found them all lacking in comfort and sound quality. The Plantronics stood out for a few reasons:
1. It has some noise reduction processing. AdaptIQ
2. It is not over $100
So I tried this one, and have been pleased with the results. The sound quality is great. When I'm in the car, I can hear people clearly and they can also hear me very well. No ambient road noise is hear at all. Loud outdoor situations still are a problem (i.e. with heavy trucks going by, you'll hear them).
The pros for this little handset are in the carrying case, which also doubles as a charger. You can charge the headset and the case together, and when the headset starts to die, you plug it back into the case for a few hours and it recharges. This is GREAT for travelling b/c you don't need to bring that extra charger. Plus I like the fact that it uses a USB standard charging connector, which means I can charge it on a laptop too. The only other one I was considering was the Jawbone and I was disappointed that it was too expensive, didn't look comfortable and had its own proprietary charger. Like I really need another charger to lug around with me right?
The plantronics 925 is a great headset for the price.
Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth. [Posted on 2008-09-30] Sound quality is poor and quite disturbing. The less expensive Plantronics 510 is the best.
