Best case for the Sony Ericsson W300i, but not perfect [Posted on 2007-12-19]
I have owned this product for a year now, and I have been more than pleased with it. (1) It fits the W300i like a glove; (2) I love being able release the phone from the clip with the push of a button; (3) I like that it has a ratcheting mechanism (for lack of a better term) that keeps the phone from swinging freely in the clip and allows you to position the phone vertically or horizontally (or any number of positions) when attached to the clip; and (4) It attaches tightly to your belt or pants waistband. The clip will cause the phone to extend a little less than an inch from your body, and I have caught the phone on doorways, etc., but the alternatives don't provide a tough case to protect the phone. And it IS a tough case. I've probably dropped the phone somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 times this year -- usually from around waist-level onto asphalt and concrete. The phone's functionality has never been affected and the only damage to the phone has been small nicks near the infrared sensor and stop/volume button, near the top of the phone -- areas not covered by the case.

I have only a couple of minor complaints about the case. First, the plastic on the top of the clip nearest the phone (that also contains the release mechanism) broke off after about 8 months. However, I am partly to blame as I was using the phone's Walkman function as I jogged daily. Each day I would squeeze the top of the clip to open it as wide as possible so that if would fit over the thick waistband of my shorts. Eventually, it broke, leaving me without the ability to remove the phone from the clip. If you can envision the clip as a spring-loaded clothspin, I was squeezing the top of the clothespin. I believe that if I would have instead pried apart the bottom of the clip when attaching the clip to this one pair of shorts, the plastic never would have broken. By the way, I can jog with this case clipped on and neither the clip nor the phone are in any danger of dislodging. That's a big plus, as I've had other belt clips that would allow the phone to pop out of the clip just by simply bending over.

The second minor complaint is that after a year the case's skin has cracked near the top (one of the two narrow sections connecting the back of the case to the front of the case. The stitching has not unraveled anywhere around the case.

So, is it perfect? No. But the pros of this case/clip combo far outweigh the cons. Too me, it's the best choice for the W300i, and at $13 (I paid $18 a year ago) Amazon's the place to buy it. (In fact, I just ordered another as a replacement.)

UPDATE: After three months of using case #2, the ratcheting mechanism has failed, so the phone rotates freely in the clip. The result is that the phone often ends up upside down and flips open. Would reduce my rating to 2 stars, if I could.

Excellent. Just purchased second case. [Posted on 2008-02-05]
I purchased my case from Amazon last April. Last week I purchased another one for my wife. This is a quality case which fits the phone perfectly. Equivalent cases at the mall are $25. I do not use the swivel simply because I have always kept my cellphones in Coach Holsters that my belt slips through. This protects the phone from rain. I use this in additional to the Holster to protect the phone when it is out of the holster, and makes it less likely the phone will slip. However, the swivel securely locks the phone in place. This is an attractive case.

Defective on arrival [Posted on 2008-03-01]
The belt clip flew apart the first time I used it. I pressed the release button and pieces went flying. I found all the bits and tried to put it back together, but a piece of plastic that holds the large piece of spring steel was broken. The case itself fit perfectly, looks great, and I think it would've suited my needs. But, I need the belt clip. The return process is quite easy so far, so I'm quite happy with Amazon.

Not What It Should Be [Posted on 2008-05-06]
Bought this case for my phone and can't even get it in to the case. Right case for the right phone. Waste of money. Don't buy.

Doesn't go the distance [Posted on 2008-05-13]
I've had my swivel case for about 8 months, and I expect some wear and tear. I but I don't expect the straps that cover the top of the phone to wear down. I don't know how, but they're tearing, and I'll have to replace this soon. If you use your phone often, don't get this. The material doesn't last as long as it should- even for the price.

On a lighter note, I've dropped my phone several times, and no breaks yet (knocks on wood), so it does that much at least.
