frustrating [Posted on 2006-01-14] This product is awful for a number of reasons. In my opinion is falsely and/or deceptively advertised. The box says "Change the photo backgrounds with the click of a mouse" and it shows photo of a child with the original background and then the same child with a fireworks background. Well, after hours of frustration, I e-mailed for support and they gave me 15 step instructions to do this which would require dozens of clicks of the mouse. Sure, you can change the background with the click of a mouse, that last click! Notice how it doesn't say 'with ONE click of a mouse', silly me. It implied that the process would be quick, it is not. Easy it is not.
Then, I went in to create a calendar. You'd think if you went into "create a calendar" you would be able to do this. This is not true. This area produces one page of a calendar, either one month or the entire year on one page. I found out by e-mail that in order to create a 12 page monthly calendar personalized with family photos, it is hidden in a list of choices under and icon of things to add to your existing project that you have started. That is backwards. And no where in this product can you get an explaination of how to do either of these projects. I had to e-mail for help.
I think that is my main frustration with this product. The lack of instructions under the help buttons. In many cases when you click on help, there isn't any information there! In the projects where there is help, there is an explaination of what the program is supposedly capable of, but no instructions on how to DO it. Then I discovered an 'instructions' button and got my hopes up. Under the project I was trying to do (calendar), the screen came up empty. In the e-mail they said that not every project has instructions.
Before you get inpressed that they have support by e-mail, let me tell you that they are extremely impersonal, seem unconcerned and are very minimal with the information given. I had to e-mail back before they would completely answer my question and in one case they never did completely answer my questions. I give up.
I have decided to take the lost and go purchase another product. I used a Hallmark product for years that was great, easy to figure out, and had quality pictures and art. I really got my money's worth out of the many, many uses. I guess I should have stuck with them. One last complaint, this products art doesn't even compare to my outdated Hallmark program.
Amazing [Posted on 2006-02-24] This is awesome! so much i can talk about , so little time on the computer. All i can say is that you'll have tons-o-fun! It's not the best but pretty fun
NO stars [Posted on 2006-05-23] This is the absolute worst program I have ever purchased. Techincal Support is an in email form ONLY, which has a 2 day response time, this company does not even provide you with a phone number.
After 3 days of messing with this, i was finally able to get this installed into my computer without the help of the company. Their version of help....I kid you not, the email response I received back from them started off by telling me to make sure I am able to install programs into my computer. Second step...wash the dvd rom with warm water. Then about 10 more steps follow that have absolutely nothing to do with the error message I emailed them about.
OK, Once I get this installed into the computer, it is such a cheesy program. Not user friendly at all. I worked for 2 hours just trying to make a simple birthday card. I go to print the card, I get a message telling me, something is wrong with my printer. Nothing is wrong there, I use this same printer just fine all day long.
Word of advise, don't pruchase this program, unless your looking for a major project. I took it as a loss and pruchased something else.
Frustratingly Slow [Posted on 2006-06-04] Don't buy this program. I wish I had not. I bought it to make a custom calendar with, and it was easy enough to load on my machine. But that was the last thing that was easy. I have tried it on two different machines now, and both times it is not responsive to my mouse clicks. I click, and then wait for the program to respond. There is not an hourglass while you are waiting either, you just sit and hope your program is not locked up.
I figured out easily enough how to start a calendar any month I wanted, and how to make 15/18 months in a year as I was looking at but just clicking through the months was so slow (with no way of jumping to the one I wanted) that I was dubious. Then I went to add my pictures -- and it only looked at the "My Pictures" folder. NO option to browse anywhere else. (And maybe I would not have wanted to after how long it took to load in the 10 pictures I had in my Pictures)
The user interface lags on each click, and there is no easy way to get to a particular choice without scrolling through the 20 choices before it (for mats) or as many as 700 different choices (for calendar. Don't get all excited though. Most of the differences are background color and stock art, not different layouts of calendar.)
I could not figure out how to make a "typical" calendar -- calendar on one page with picture above it.
There are many other projects in this package, but as slow as it is I have no desire to try them out. I have a Nova Explosion brand Card Creator that is much easier to use -- and more responsive, so I am drawing to try and be creative, not just "get it over with"
This product is not worth the $10 I paid for it
