QuietEye - Very Easy to Understand [Posted on 2003-07-08] I find this product very good and easy to use. I had another product before that blocked web sites and it slowed down my computer very much. This program is like its not there. It hides. And spies. So I know what is going on my computer when I am away. Gracias.
Quietly keeping our kids safe [Posted on 2003-09-16] I've used this program for over a year. It works great! It remains hidden in the background and when called up by the proper keystrokes (alt-shft-q) becomes visable. It captures screenshots at predetermined time intervals or when keywords are typed. The keywords can be anything you choose such as profanity, drug terminology or anything else. You can view the snapshots and get kids passwords to view their email from another location. It groups the snapshots into "sessions". A session is the time between you logon to the computer and logoff. If you never log off you will have hundreds of pages of snapshoots to view. It works fine with Windows XP, but you have to disable the feature that allows multiple users to be logged in at the same time. The only problem I have is it has selection to delete multiple screen snapshots. That function has never worked for me, I must delete each snapshot "group" individually. It also has a feature that will pop up to alert the user when a keyword has been typed. It can also be set to show that it is activly monitoring the system. I don't think this will work as our kids are getting pretty savy and would figure out how to disable the program. I think it works best when hidden so we can watch what they are doing and where they are going. If your a parent that wants to know what your children are doing on the internet or with the computer, this is the program for you.
This saved my child's life [Posted on 2004-02-04] Using this software we were able to see that our child was being coerced by a coach to engage in sexual activities. We were able to prevent the worst from happening. Every parent should have this software.
Lacks some important features and doesn't work so well. [Posted on 2005-03-24] While waiting for the Quieteye software to arrive, I had installed a trial version (unstealth) of PC Tattletale. I guess I got spoiled because PC Tattletale captured incoming e-mails, screenshots, and keystrokes, so I assumed the others would too. I ordered the Quieteye because it came on a CD and the other was only offered as a download (I prefer to have the CD - and it was slightly cheaper).
I installed Quieteye on one of my children's computers, and it ran fine. But, it only captures the keystrokes and screenshots, not any incoming e-mails. The other day my child got an e-mail from a friend that contained information we were concerned about. I saw the e-mail before it was deleted and spoke to my child about it. However, if I not seen the e-mail I would have never known about it because the software did not keep it.
Also, it takes screenshots of the screensaver. Something the other software did not do (and takes a lot of time to review). I feel QuietEye needs to capture the incoming e-mail and not take screenshots while the screensaver is running.
The other computer I tried to load it on kept giving me a "not enough RAM" message and would abort the installation - even though that computer exceeds the minimum specs for the software. I e-mailed QuietEye (the only way to get support) and they have not responded yet.
The other poor reviews below are true too. Unless you have the screen resolution set just right (you'll have to mess with it a bit) the hide button is "hidden" - ironic, huh? - and your only option is to close / turn off the software. Who wants to be forced to have tiny icons on their desktop to use the software?
Hope this helps you make an informed decision. I personally found it very hard to decide on an internet monitoring program but am going with PC Tattletale because it is so much better.
Works ok..as long as you don't have to re-load it [Posted on 2005-11-22] I bought the software a year or so ago.I liked it..the only problem was when I had a problem with my PC..I had to re-format.I re-loaded Quiet Eye and uninstalled several times..It keeps getting an error message.I emailed the company..and to this day...no response!
