Victor electronic trap vs Ultra Zapper [Posted on 2008-09-23]
I have the Victor Electronic Rat Trap and the Rat Zapper Ultra. I'm waiting for the Rat Zapper (not Ultra) to arrive today. So far, both do a great job killing the vermin, but the Ultra Zapper battery installation is far superior. I have tried for two years to clear my property of vermin using all kinds of traps and poisons, but had no luck. After setting up my first electronic rat trap, I had a "kill" within 2 hours. In less than a week, I had 4 "kills". I did find that some of the critters were avoiding the Victor electronic rat trap, but went for the Ultra Zapper. The products work, but I would recommend the ultra zapper. I use almond butter and bird seeds. BTW: Good for getting rid of chipmunks too.

UPDATE: I also have the Rat Zapper (not Ultra). Buy the Rat Zapper ULTRA! Hands down the best of the three electronic rat traps mentioned.

I bought this and followed the instructions. I thought I would get immediate results, but as described, these rodents are smart. Took about 7 days and then one mouse was dead in the trap. The next day another one. Simple to get ride of the mouse....just slide out of the zapper. Much better than mouse traps!

The only little problem with the Zapper was that it was zapping mice faster than I could reset it. If you want a hassle free trap that does what it is supposed to do, this is it. Baiting is clean and easy and disposal is clean and easy. Let's face it snap traps are a pain in the neck to set, let alone having to deal with scooping up the dead guys and dealing with that whole situation. You don't even see the kills in the Zapper, just pour it into the garbage. The only thing is if you have a lot of mice, you may want to get more than one.

I have a Rat Zapper Ultra.

It kills 1 or 2 roof rats a day in my basement since I deployed it a week ago. I had no idea I had so many rats.

Cat food seems to work well as a bait.

There is no messy blood, or injured rats to deal with. They just die cleanly.

We live on a farm with horses and had constant ptoblems with mice.
My wife allerted me to the Rat Zapper and I ordered several for the barn and the house. It works the better than chemicals or other types of traps.
We have eliminated most of the mice on the farm and continue to put them out to maintain control.
