A review of the Collector's Tin not the game. [Posted on 2002-01-09] There are enough game reviews here. But, almost nothing about the actual game tin. Don't get me wrong, the game is definitely 5 stars or more but the "Limited Edition Collector's Tin" is only 2 stars. In my opinion, the "Limited Edition Collector's Tin" really isn't worth the amount of money being charged for it. The price is considerably more for only a few items. Besides the game, which you can get by its self, you get a mini-poster and a patch. All of which comes in an embossed aluminum box. For the amount of money they want for this, I believe they should have at least made the poster full size. The poster is 7 inches high by 27 inches long. It really doesn't seem that big when you have it in your hands. The patch has bright, vibrant colors, red and white; but it isn't really spectacular. Just the Wolfenstein "W" logo you see on the front of the box. The box itself, despite being embossed and stylized with red lettering, seems cheaply made to me. The light metal used in its construction, while obviously chosen to make the box lighter and easier to handle, could be very easily bent or dented In the end, the "Limited Edition Collector's Tin" is one of those "I have one and you don't" things. If you absolutely must have one, try waiting until the price comes down.
Endless Fun [Posted on 2002-01-20] The enemy AI is a welcome challenge. Multiple enemies, with good aim, and if you don't hit them right away, they run and wait for you to find them, with gun ready of course. I am an avid FPS player and just the challenge of the game is enough to keep hardcore gamers happy.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein [Posted on 2002-01-22] First off the improvment from the first game to this is absolutly amazing. the graphics are astouding. While the game play was above average. IT WAS AWESOME (too short, but AWESOME)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! !!
This game is........ [Posted on 2002-01-29] Not what you would have expected. Most would disagree and say that this game was one of the best for PC in 2001. I would say that I might have fallen victim to hype-ofobia which supressed my enjoyment while playing the game. Anyway the game has great detail in characters and there surroundings definitely earning it full points graphic wise. The character animations had some real good thought put into it which made some fight sequences rather outstanding. All in all presentation was the full three stars that I gave it. The gameplay sucked big time, and the involvement of gameplay in the story was non-exsistent. Lack of creativity in these areas made the game fall short of what I was expecting by miles. In todays gaming industry games that are successful are the ones that get the player involved in the actual story line as much as possible during actual game play. Games like: Max Payne(PC,Xbox), GTA3(PS2), Deus Ex(PC) all major successes. Because they created an outstanding balance in gameplay and storyline. But if you like to go around mindlessly shooting German Nazi's and zombies and have to solve the occaisional puzzle, with the no relevance to the story at all be my guest and buy this game. P.S. the visuals are really excelent on P4's with 256mb and Nvidia Geforce 2 Ultra and above.
Poor compatability [Posted on 2002-04-22] I have three reasonably new computers in my home - all AMD 1400's and a PIII 1,000. Lots of memory and high end video cards (ATI and Matrox). The game won't run on any machine. Same error message, and NO support from ID Software. This was a big waste of money and a disappointment. Don't buy it unless you feel really lucky, and have some money to waste.
