I was really jazzed to find out this kind of service exists, I've been trying to con my kid into ripping my collection for years now... to no avail. Now I realize I could've taken all the money I paid my 14 year old and had this done commercially!
I bit the bullet and tried Riptopia anyway, and it was definitely worth it. The whole process was extremely fast, I had my CDs back in a week with a (finally) loaded iPod.
Ripped for my vacation to Europe [Posted on 2007-10-06]
I had bought the 80 GB iPod a ways back which is basically the same as the new Classic. Apple 80 GB iPod Classic (Silver) I wanted to take a lot of music with me on a vacation to Europe. As is normally the case with me, I delayed for a long time trying to rip my CDs myself. I got through about 100 CDs of my 500 CD-ish collection but then heard about Riptopia. Though I don't really like spending money for things that I could do myself, I decided to bite the bullet since my vacation was coming fast. Not only did I get all my CDs ripped in time for my vacation, I got them back a few days in advance so I could even get a second iPod for my wife, loaded with our CDs. That made the trip over even better.

I gave my wife an iPod for her birthday. She loved it but, 6 months after she got it, we had only gotten about 20% of our CD collection into it. With work and family we were just too busy. Finally, we found Riptopia and the conversion process was completed within days. Riptopia's system removes all potential hassles. They even provide shipping containers designed for sending CD's and, when they are completed, provide you with a report and archive of your music.
While we spent some money to do something we could have done ourselves, Riptopia allowed both of us to realize the value of our iPod investment and led us to us buy other digital music players as well. I thank Riptopia everytime we go on a roadtrip and have access to our entire music collection. Were it not for their service, we would still be languishing in mid 1990s era technology and not getting full enjoyment from our music collection. It was money well spent.
