"Ohh, I'm sorry. It looks like we've never tested it for Vista 64bit" [Posted on 2008-09-13] That was the statement I received from the customer service rep after 30 minutes of troubleshooting.
The keyboard and mouse are simple by comparison to other manufacturers out there, which is a plus in my book. They worked fine until I installed the drivers provided on the cd.
Once the cista64 driver issue is resolved I'm sure this product would have received 4-5 starts. Unfortunately, it receives poor marks due to lackluster customer service and misleading packaging. When I see a product branded "Vista Compatible" I would assume it should work.
Side Keys not Programmable [Posted on 2008-11-04] Easy installation--range is great. Terrific improvement over "standard" wireless Logitech keyboard in the living room.
Only issue is with the extra keys on the far left and far right--they are not programmable. The "email" key defaults to Outlook--period. The "search" to Windows search. Since I don't use Outlook I'd rather have the button open iTunes--but you can't do it.
I've only had this for a day but I'm happy with the purchase and the price was definitely right (about half the price of the Logitech and Microsoft offerings).
Perfect Bluetooth keyboard and mouse [Posted on 2008-11-22] I needed a keyboard to reach my Mac Mini across the living room. I considered purchasing the thin Apple bluetooth keyboard (a great product) the price was a bit much and it didn't come with a mouse. I found this keyboard mouse combo for 10$ cheaper! I hesitated when I didn't recognize the company name - but I took the plunge.
It works beautifully! Very simple to setup and all the media keys worked immediately on both the mouse and keyboard (no drivers needed). I find the four way scrolling on the mouse much easier to use than the small 8-way ball of an apple mouse.
The range is wonderful and even works though walls (another project) and it comes with a bluetooth transmitter for your USB so I can use it with my PC (not needed with the mac)
Fully recommend.
I have had big problems with this [Posted on 2008-11-26] How much do I hate this product? Well, I just spent the better part of half an hour trying to get the keyboard to reconnect, if that tells you anything, and it's FAR from the first time this has happened.
I got this keyboard and mouse about 6 months ago. I had a little trouble getting it to pair at first but after that, it was great - or so I thought. My PC started getting lockups, which almost never happened before I installed this product. Much of the time when I reboot, the computer fails to recognize either the mouse or the keyboard, so I have to go through the whole connection routine again. The mouse is usually fairly easy to connect. Not so for the keyboard - on those few occasions when it is actually detected, I generally have to attempt to connect at LEAST 10 times before it connects, if then. I am sitting about 6 feet away from the transmitter so operating conditions could hardly be any better.
Once everything is finally reconnected, it works well enough, except for two things. First, if the keyboard hasn't been touched in a while it pauses for a few seconds before processing any keystrokes. I assume this is because it goes into some kind of hibernation mode for power conservation. Kind of annoying, but not a big deal. The other problem is that the scroll wheel stops working. I haven't found any way to restore it except for rebooting.
Keyboards and mice should things you don't have to think about, unless maybe occasionally when the battery goes out. This has turned into an almost daily struggle, and I'm done with it. I highly recommend avoiding this product.
Scroll Wheel Problem Solved... [Posted on 2008-11-30] Hey guys, just want to let anyone know who are searching the net for a comment on this very common problem with the scroll wheel not working on the mouse. Do not use the included cd-driver. Go directly to the rocketfish website. Go to their products page. the mouse keyboard combo is buried on the very last page on the last item. Click that, and click the download driver option. Run it, it will pair your keyboard and mouse by typing the code with your keyboard while being prompted. Voila, problem solved. This is an inexpensive excellent blutooth mouse keyboard combo that is victimized by poor cd driver and support.
Hope this helps.
