This game is awsome!!!!!!My mom got it for$ 7.00 and she said it's cheap!!Now I've beat three levels!In the game there are MANY typs & kinds of rides & rollercoasters(there are even corkscrew rollercoasters)!!People can even die by crashes and by drownding.I recomend this game for EVERYONE!!!!!!!

My 8 year old daughter wrote this review. this game is fun and cool! I will tell you why. you can name your roller costers and other rides . you can name people that come to "your" park too! they all aren't just roller costers! and heres somthing cool! you can drown people and they die on a accident on a roller coster. and they. you can barf too. you can hire lots of handy men. if you have played any tycoon before you will catch on quickly! :-) I think you will like this game! :-)

My brother had this game when it first came out, and I became addicted QUICKLY! Now I find myself moving on to other Tycoons, but this one will always remain my all time favorite!!

Before purchasing RollerCoaster Tycoon for myself I decided to borrow it from a friend - just to be sure it was something I would enjoy. I personally enjoy games that provide a challenge without being over-the-top/insanely difficult. And, I have to say that this game fit the bill, and from day one I just couldn't get enough of it!

In RollerCoaster Tycoon your job is to create the "ultimate" theme park - a place where everyone wants to go to have fun, relax, and spend all that money that's been burning a hole in their pocket (smile). You do this by:

*Choosing (or creating for yourself) which rides, eating establishments, & souveneir stalls to purchase, as well as where to place them & how much to charge your customers for each.

*Determining how much to charge for entry into your park. This will increase over time, as you build more rides & such for your customers to enjoy.

*Ensuring that you hire enough workers (handymen & maintenance crews) to keep your park clean & provide quick maintenance on your rides. If your park becomes dirty & rides are down too long, you lose lots of current as well as potential customers until you get the problem fixed.

*Determining the "right" amount of money to spend on research & marketing - as the more you spend on research, the faster new rides & stalls become available to you.

*Paying attention to what customers are thinking & how happy (or unhappy) they are. They'll let you know if prices are too high or the park is getting dirty, so be sure to check-in with them regularly.

*Making the surroundings nice to look at by purchasing & placing such things as benches, fountains, statues, etc... Also, you want to be sure to purchase plenty of trash cans so your customers have somewhere to dump their trash other than on the ground.

*Checking-in to see the popularity of your rides, as this will change over time. If something is no longer popular you can always lower to the price to see if that helps, or get rid of it so that you can put something better in its place.

In this game there are several different levels (or parks) to play, each with its' own challenges. Although I tend to play until I beat the challenge & then move on, I have friends who continue to play, making up their own increasing challenges along the way. If you do the latter, this game could last you a VERY LONG time indeed!

Overall, I think RollerCoaster Tycoon is a great game for older children & adults alike! Not only is it great fun to play, but it teaches you (and/or your child) some of the most important factors of business, such as always paying attention to customer wants & needs & the types of products you're offering; the importance of marketing & research, how interest builds up when you borrow money, etc...

If you're new to "Tycoon"-type games (or even if you're not), you might want to try something like "Fairy Godmother Tycoon" first. This is another awesome game & I found that helped me to get my feet wet with this genre of games.

This game is very fun. Being able to design roller coasters, to go-karts to a monorail this game is awesome!! The only bad thing about this game is one, its hard to make money allot of the time and, its hard to build an awesome roller coaster without it being to extreme. (because if it's too extreme no one will go on it)
