Pleased with roxio's programs for both pc and Mac [Posted on 2008-08-13] I've now had the chance to use roxio's Mac version, Toast 9 and see that it has enough technical differences with Easy Media to own both. It isn't just a matter of having to different OS's.
My biggest problem with version 9 was the installation but since I'm now a Vista user I went with version 10. I no longer had the program asking to initialize each program before using. Instead it went straight to working wihtout any warnings. It was the same pc too. I don't know if this is Windows or Roxio or both but the results were better. This saved a lot of headaches.
The look of the product has really changed, all positive. Some odd apps are now in categories that make more sense. It also makes sense to put the audio recorder app in the Windows toolbar since you never know when you may want to use it. I will record audio from interviews, even if there's picture because I don't have time to watch the whole thing. Then I use the program to send it to my iPod and listen at my convenience.
I was able to learn a lot about video editing from version 9. Ver. 10 has a few more features. As long as I upgraded I got Deluxe to get the Pinacle converter. It took no learning time and was as simple as plug and convert. There are a lot of themes available in cinemagic so you don't have to search around for graphics. It's easy to make a vacation or birthday video and have a set of menus ready. Videowave is easier than it looks. It works in tracks so you can manipulate each track and together they change the video. It's not drastically different than version 9, but it was enough for me to change.
EZ Media Creator not so EZ [Posted on 2008-09-04] I have been using this product or its predecessor's for quite some time. I am currently using EZ MC 9, however not all of the software functions properly. I had upgraded to 10 hoping it would fix the problems, and I was disappointed to find out it trashed my computer, causing a complete re-install and much pain. If hindsight were 20-20, I would have stuck with version 7.5 as it was the most stable. I have had little help from Roxio support, and their recommendations are similar to what other's have said, not practical. I do not recommend any Roxio product at this time, perhaps they will get it right in the future (I doubt it).
The BEST [Posted on 2008-09-15] Roxio Media Suite is by far the very best audio and video program out there. I have been using it for about a month now and am amazed at how easy a projest is to do. I like it because its an all in one program for my audio and video needs and is extremly easy to learn how to use. It produces professionally prepared video projects in a snap. I would highly recomend this product, but get the complete Suite version because it contains everything you will need to produce audio and video projects.
Even trying to contact customer causes error messages. [Posted on 2008-09-19] I have used several versions of this program over the past 5 years...don't ask me why.
The lastest version is even more glitchy...if that's possible.
My latest problem was trying to load the media manager..it won't load.
I always receive an error message saying that the progrom won't load because it has stopped. How can it be stopped...it won't even start !
You can only get help via e-mail unless you want to pay and pay.
The problem is...even the CUSTOMER SERVICE program is full of bugs...Everytime I try to create a service ticket...and then hit send..I receive an error message.
What a mess. Don't buy this program unless you have a lot of time on your hands...and enjoy being fustrated.
An Absolute Nightmare. [Posted on 2008-09-27] Worked great when I first installed it. Then tried to use iTunes, and the registry settings changed so iTunes won't record to a CD - so far have not been able to fix it. Even WORSE my PC won't play disks anymore. Have tried 4 or 5 suggested fixes, and no luck. I wish I'd done a search for problems with Roxio before buying--there are many sites noting the same problems, and for many versions going way back. You'd think they'd have gotten it right by now. At least search before you buy (search "uninstall Roxio"), you'll see it's impossible, even with Microsoft's uninstaller.
