Customer Reviews:

not great [Posted on 2007-02-28]
Our company has a common use auditorium with a fairly elaborate AV system which is all run from a Crestron remote (all except the PC). It's a fairly simple simple system to operate, to me at least. Not to the vast majority of people giving presentations. I'm one of the IT guys everyone runs to when things don't work. Unfortunately, my office is right down the hall from the auditorium and I get a steady stream of people coming to see me because they can't make the system work, usually 2 minutes before a scheduled briefing and with an auditorium full of people.

I needed an RF presentation mouse because the PC in the AV system is rack mounted in a small room behind the stage. I picked this mouse up and have been using it for about a year now. Frankly, it doesn't work well.

First of all, the mouse pointer is very, very slow to move across the screen. This generates the most complaints. Also, for some reason, the battery loses its connection and the remote stops working. We have had to 'reseat' the battery compartment at least 10 times (even with a fresh battery). That means at least 10 visits from unhappy users seconds before they are to start their presentations. Job security I guess.

I am currently searching for a replacement.

Battery connection [Posted on 2007-03-28]
The connection to battery is lost so very often without any apparent reason, bringing the presentation to a complete halt. I fiddle with the battery compartment, occasionally succeeding in bringing the remote back to life. More often, however, I have to go back to the keyborad. When the connection is okay, the remote works fine. These episodes are not many, though!

Works great with my Mac [Posted on 2007-04-23]
I use a Powerbook and do presentations around the country and as a professor. I have really liked the functioning and feel of this remote. It is comfortable to hold, fits easily in my pocket and has worked well even at distances up to 40 feet. Has a good balance of form and function, as well as working great with my Mac.

Exceptionally Dependable! [Posted on 2007-09-24]
I'm a Baptist minister who uses PowerPoint to preach my sermons. I purchased this remote to replace my Keyspan Presentation Remote. While I initially liked the Keyspan remote, I noticed that it behaved erratically from time to time. That is, at times during my PowerPoint sermons, the Keyspan would not advance the slides when its buttons were activated. As a result, I began to look for a replacement and ultimately settled for the Pilot Pro.

The Pilot Pro is clearly a superior product than the Keyspan remote. During the last few months that I have used it in church (2-3 times per week), it has never failed me once. The buttons not only respond as they were designed to do, but the 40-50 foot range that I get at church is equally exceptional.

The only thing that I miss from the Keyspan remote is the speed which the mouse cursor moved on the screen. The Pilot Pro's mouse cursor, on the other hand, seems to move rather sluggish and with less agility. For this reason, I can't give it a perfect 5 out of 5 score.

It also would be nifty if the Pilot Pro had dedicated volume buttons on the remote. In this manner, I could easily control the volume on the video clips that I frequently use in my PowerPoint sermons. As it stands, I have to use a separate remote just to control the volume of my video clips. In fact, the ideal remote would be one that could control PowerPoint, control the mouse cursor, and had dedicated volume buttons.

In short, I'm glad that I purchased the Pilot Pro and would recommend it to those who need a dependable remote for PowerPoint presentations.

Amazing [Posted on 2008-05-17]
As a teacher, this is amazing. Now i can walk around the room and use it to click through a website i'm showing through the LCD projector. I'm not stuck in the corner at my desk where i can't really see what the kids are doing. It has a good range in my classroom I can be anywhere and it still works.
