No run and Shooter...very very fun! [Posted on 2006-04-02] SWAT4 is a great game. I like the ability to direct my squad
to do various things. This is no run and shoot-em up game, but
requires you to think and evaluate a situation,to determine
what is the best thing to do to protect you, your squad and the
innocent civilians. You achieve the best scores after completing
missions,if you use lethal force as a last resort, when suspect resist arrest and become violent. I recommend this game along with Ghost Recon, and Full Spectrum Warrior. These are other
great squad based first person shooter games.
Also if u have a subscription to Fileplanet.com,you can download the Realism Mod for this game, which add real weapon statistics and real situation set ups.
He won't stop playing it! [Posted on 2007-01-12] I bought this game for my husband for Christmas, as well as the expansion pack, and he won't stop playing it! He has owned all of the other Swat games in the past and says this one is his favorite by far. I haven't played it myself, but he says it's worth every star it can get!
great game [Posted on 2007-03-30] kill the bad guys, save the public. Put that on my police car not that protect and serve bs. Grear graphics, great sound and great atmosphere. Mission 2 absolves me for macing that old lady in 1995, its mainstream now.
Great game with incredible COOP [Posted on 2007-10-17] This is one of the best first person shooters out there. There isn't any cohesive story or narrative that links the 10 different scenarios, but then again, that's not a guarantee in real life, either. The actual game play rewards careful planning and strategy. It isn't a game for people who want to run into a room, shoot everyone, and continue. The game's scoring at the end of each level encourages you to arrest the suspects, not kill them. This is accomplished by using the non-lethal weapons. Of course, this is only a factor in the single player and COOP. In multi player, you can feel free to take whatever gun you want and mow down the opposition. The COOP is by far the best aspect of this game. You can team up with 10 people to take on the single player or any fan made missions. The levels all feel unique and are designed appropriately. Office buildings have big conference rooms. Garages have cars. Banks have those unnecessary rooms where they tell you that your loan was declined. Everything feels right. Enemies have random placements in each level, so you can't just memorize where everyone is and proceed. You have to proceed with caution no matter how many times you've done a level.
Overall, this is one of my favorite first person shooters. The only disappointment I had was that you can't use a sniper rifle in multi player, but thats just until someone adds one as a mod.
Difficult, but overall fantastic. [Posted on 2007-11-21] Very good in every way possible except in the area of difficulty. It's not impossible, but it does require much more stategical and tactical savvy than most games in order to even complete a level. A good challenge, but may be too hard for young teens/children or those new to first-person shooters. Those adept at playing Tom Clancy games like the Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon series, will have less trouble, but will probably not be used to the obstacle of civilians everywhere, thus not allowing them to shoot at people willy nilly. If one were to be too hesitant though, they would be quickly shot. So you see where a large part of the difficulty comes from.
