Have a corn dog, little buddy, and buy this dvd. In fact, buy a bushel, give them to your friends. This is fun, clever and demented. It's not for children. The humor is too adult, too sophisticated, and too over the top. It's right from the venue of Crusader Rabbit, Rocky the flying squirrel, and the Animaniacs. The pace is rocket fast and the slow and dimwitted need not apply. The dialog and the animation are first rate.

As a long time fan of Steve Purcell's comic book, and having played Hit the Road all the way through (the only computer game I've bothered to play), I enjoyed this interpretation of the characters. Sam and Max have been made kid friendly, but the merry mayhem that makes them who they are is still very much present.

I was always told that if I looked into the box of happy childhood TV memories, all I'd find was a bag of disappointment. Ignoring that, I rewatched several cartoons from the 80s & 90s only to discover that they're not as cool as I remember them. This ranks as high as SatAM Sonic on the disappointment scale.

Like the way reading the Sonic comics will ruin your ability to ever enjoy the cartoon again, or your contempt you feel for the Series of Unfortunate Events or Queen of the Damned movies after reading their books, playing the awesome episodic games by Telltale disintegrated the beergoggles on this series for me. If Sam & Max seasons 1 & 2 are tequila, S&MFP is Zima. It's so watered-down that the the main characters are scarcely themselves; Sam is supposed to be a gun-waving, bad driving, crank calling kleptomaniac & Max is supposed to be sadistic, violent, threatening, & HE'S the one who's supposed to be trying to eat everything.

The problem with this cartoon is that they targeted it for children & put it on fox. It SHOULD have been targeted at teenagers & put on either Nickelodeon or MTV. With the new games out & inappropriate for anyone under 13 to play, I can only recommend this series to players' 12-&-under siblings.
