Good upconverter, slow, small range remote [Posted on 2008-07-30] A good upconverting DVD player that will improve the quality of your standard DVDs, some more noticeably than others, but definetely not as good as blu ray as some reviews might suggest. Only issue is with the remote, very small range to get it to make the dvd player function, have to be pointing directly at it for it to work. But luckily, I have a Samsung LN52A650 lcd, and the Anylink connection between the 2 is seemless, which allows me to use my tv remote to operate the player. All in all a pretty good player for the money.
great [Posted on 2008-08-07]
Just bought up my first HDTV, a $749 Samsung 32" 450 series, so I don't know alot about this - therefore 4 stars.
A few days later I came across this DVD player at Sam's for $68 so I bought it mostly because it uses Samsung's AnyNet software. The two work great together (via HMDI) and give me a quality picture that easily surpasses my expectations. Yes, a little slow to load and I wish the remote response was a little quicker but to me that's minor. I got a fantastic picture, two components that work great together, and two remotes that are just about interchangeable.
awesome match [Posted on 2008-08-09] bought the Samsung 50" plasma and ordered this DVD [player--makes the regular DVD's look awesome on the big screen--will wait till the blue ray nad the blue ray dvd's are affordable--this is a great buy plus it remembers where you left off in a movie if you stop it-recommend
Works as advertised [Posted on 2008-08-17] I have only used this DVD player a couple of times, but the image on my new HD TV is sure a lot better then with my old DVD player. I am not very technical, but I can tell the difference. The colors are brighter and sharper. Finer detail makes the images crisper. Worth every penny of the price. Since my new TV is a Samsung I purchased this, and yes, it does work with the TVs remote, so no multiple remote problems.
DVD refused to work with my Samsung 37" HDTV [Posted on 2008-08-23] I want to echo the comments of R. Walthers, "DVD refused to work with my Samsung 32" 1080p TV" dated 21 July 2008. I bought the same setup, except my Samsung TV is a 37" HDTV model. When I tried to play a DVD, the signal drops out about every 15 seconds. I called Samsung to report the problem within about 7 days of purchasing the unit. They acknowledged that the two units were incompatible and said a firmware modification would be developed and that I would be notified by e-mail to download the software by USB device and upload it to the TV. Well, after several calls and now over 60-days, I still have nothing from Samsung. So, thanks R. Walthers, tomorrow I'm going to buy a second DVD (Sony DVP-NS700H/S). If anybody wants a free Samsung 1080P DVD player, just check my trash can!
