I've had this monitor for 3 months and it was fine. Watching standard TV wasn't the best-the image just wasn't too clear in widescreen mode. I do like the Picture-in-picture mode, so I could watch SportsCenter while checking my e-mail. It looks great when I use it with my XBox 360 too.
But then...as I saw in some of the other reviews, I was having problems with it not turning on/off and today, it finally died. No response from it at all. Customer service seemed helpful and now I'm waiting for a new one. If not for this issue I'd have given this monitor 4 stars. We'll see if the new one is any better.

Some great reviews here of the 940MW, and I purchased mine (it's being closed out, I believe) on a super sale based on them. Thanks, folks. I'd like to add a couple of items.

Dot pitch on the unit is 0.282. This is fair for a monitor. I have a Dell Ultrasharp that's under 0.25 and the difference is quite noticeable. Lower, of course, is better.

Picture processing in TV-type applications is very good; better than Samsung's 720p 2007 LCD HDTVs, in my view. (Of course, the set comes with a standard NTSC tuner for analog over-the-air broadcasting, so will need a converter box eventually to pick up digital -- ugh.)

I'm using this as a transportable monitor and TV, so want to mate it with a DVD player on occasion. Am using the excellent Sony DVP-NS75H (see my review).

This monitor can play DVDs in upscaled HD and you'll be pretty amazed at what you get from some DVDs (not much difference with some movies produced with digital in mind, like LOTR, but most certainly on older content). It's a little bit of a work-around, though, and not documented in the manual, as I recall.

HERE'S HOW: You'll need to get an HDMI - DVI connector for the high-definition video (unlike HDMI to HDMI, it doesn't carry the audio); I bought the very good (posted as: ) Cables Unlimited, HDmi To Dvi-d Cable, 6ft from Amazon for about $12. For audio, don't try to connect between the A/V jacks on the DVD player and the Samsung. Instead, get an audio adapter to enable the standard A/V left and right RCA audio out connections from your DVD player to connect to the stereo phone jack in the back of the Samsung (next to the DVI connector). I found the RadioShack item number 274-369 for less than $4. I hope this isn't confusing; with a little experimentation you'll get great video and satisfactory audio in stereo.

10 Minutes of Heaven [Posted on 2008-03-17]
I bought a brand new Roadtrek Motorhome that came equipped with this unit. It was hooked up to a TV antenna and a DVD player and Dolby Surround Sound, but had room for several more component and HD connections.

It worked nicely with the integrated system in the Motorhome... for about 10 minutes. It died, no power whatsoever. I tried outside power, etc., no help.

I tried the Samsung website to register it, but it was a Canadian model (where the Motorhome was built), and I couldn't register it on the US site, nor could I register it on the Canadian site since it only allows you to enter Provinces, not States.

However, I did call Samsung the next day, they asked for the Serial Number, and that was all it took for them to send a replacement to a local UPS store. Alas, my trip is already planned, so I won't get it till I return, but I am very pleased with the Customer Service and only hope the next unit (re manufactured) works.

well about 2 months ago the ps started to act up.
$90.00 later it's working again. Many people have experienced this problem with the ps

Power Off Solution? [Posted on 2008-09-14]
I've had my 940MW for over a year. When 1st received, after turning on, it would work for 5 to 10 minutes and then cut off. I tried removing and re-pluging in the power cord and it would work for a few minutes and then the monitor would again cut off. Then I tried a different approach. I removed the power cord and squeezed the end that goes to the monitor with regular pliars. SINCE THEN, THE MONITOR HAS NOT 'TURNED ITSELF OFF' ONCE!

I believe that what was happening, in my case anyway, was the power cord connection at the monitor would heat up and expand and break the flow of AC. Squeezing the power cord with the pliars 'tightened up' the connection allowing the cord to maintain contact. I looked at the monitors plug hole after removing the power cord, and the connection lugs were inset into the monitor farther that I think they should be. I think that that caused the problem.

Don't know if this helps anyone else.

That is the only reason I don't give this monitor a 5 rating.
