Samsung YP-U2JZW [Posted on 2007-12-24] This is a great product for those of us who like to listen to radio while on our daily walk/run. Although other products may be more trendy, this is very useful.
Worth the money...even though only lasted 1.5 years [Posted on 2008-04-08] I bought this product about a year and a half ago.
First the bad: While transferring files about two weeks ago, my pc and the player froze up. It now says that I have zero free memory and it is no longer recognized by my pc. I can no longer access files.
The good: It was an awesome product while it lasted.
I have no idea what some of the reviewers are talking about when it comes to this player. I transferred files directly through windows. Simple as drag and drop. I never had to use Media Player or any other software.
I liked the fact that I didn't have to have a cord to charge the unit. It played for a very long time on one charge.
I used it as a flash drive as well with no problems.
Samsung YP-U2J [Posted on 2008-08-22] Bought this product back in May 22, 2006 from another vendor.
I'm mostly positive on this product.
The only con is an external feature.
I don't recommend using the Hold feature.
After repeated uses of the Hold feature the switch became loose on mine.
Putting it into Hold for the last time it was definitely stuck on Hold.
I guess it was held on by a sticky substance.
Had to take it apart, and scrape off a little plastic piece on the Hold switch, and made it flat so that feature is no longer usable.
still like the day i bought it :) [Posted on 2008-09-27] I bought my player right before Christmas 2006. I had never had an mp3 player before, but after purchasing a Shuffle for my mom (who wanted "an iPod") and having do go through the hassle of iTunes and getting her a separate wall charger and loading it for her (she doesn't have a computer)i couldn't take it anymore....there was no way i was getting any type of iPod if it meant having to deal with iTunes.
so my husband and i went shopping for our own mp3 players, and came across this guy. pop him in the usb drive on the front of our computer, drag and drop your music, and charge him there too!!! it was a dream come true.
almost a full 2 years later, it still works as well as the day i bought it. i did get a "jam jacket" for it, so i could have a clip on it for working out. it goes to the gym, to the grocery store, layin in bed, you name it...this thing is great. and i can't say i've ever had the battery die on me, so i can't attest to how long the battery actually lasts.
now i work for an electronics retailer, and when i have people come in looking for something that just plays music and is easy to use, i instantly direct them to the updated version of this one....
if you don't need all the bells and whistles, get this player. you won't be disappointed.
Practically indestructible. [Posted on 2008-11-08] I have had my YP-U2J for 2 years now. It just won't give up. I have dropped it, touch it with wet hands everyday, sat on it continuosly (i carry it in my back pocket), I have even cracked the screen cover, but it won't stop working perfectly. The battery still holds a charge of at least 10 hours with WMA subscription tracks. And those tracks are in very high bitrate.
The sound is amazing. It has several preset audio equalizations, and you can just hear a song in a lot of different ways with it. The same song sounds great, almost like it was a new track.
It has a custom EQ.
The headphones gave up about 5 months after I bought it, but the reason is that I do house maintenance work. So, I get wet both the phones and the player all the time, but the player keeps on going and the phones just stopped working. And I can understand that. I have gone throungh several pairs including sony, jvc, and generic. They can't stand the chemicals I work with. But like I said this mp3 player is indestructible, unless I intentionally run a car over it. It has endured moisture, chemicals. I haven't submerged it in water yet, but I just might.
