A PIECE OF JUNK! [Posted on 2002-10-26] Using Mac G4 and OS 9.2.2. Downloaded newest drivers from SanDisk website. When plugged into USB port won't allow the computer to shut down or restart. Puts 2 icons on desktop when compact flash card is inserted. Very difficult to insert compact flash card. Consigned to garbage can. A complete waste of [money] plus postage. Too bad - I've had good luck with SanDisk products before.
No brainer for CompactFlash Card users [Posted on 2002-11-05] I bought this when I purchased my digital camera. I have never connected the camera to my PC. I don't need to! The card reader acts as another hard drive and there is no noticeable delay in loading pictures via the reader. Since my camera did not come with an a/c adapter, I don't waste batteries by hooking up the camera to upload pics.
A lifesaver!! [Posted on 2003-03-18] I wish I would have bought this when I first got my digital camera. It saves so much time with downloading pictures on the computer. Before I would download pictures from my camera and several times the batteries would die right in the middle of downloading, bummer! With this little thing I can download the pictures without wasting battery power and it is a lot faster.
Battery-saver! [Posted on 2003-03-29] I used to go through batteries like crazy downloading pictures from my camera to my PC. Save yourself the headaches and get a card reader!! I've never had a problem with this one, I didn't even need the driver/software CD that came with it. Windows ME (and XP) recognized it right away.
Exactly what it says [Posted on 2004-04-14] For a cheap, light, simple device, the SanDisk imagemate reader has been incredibly sturdy and effective. It's done exactly what it was supposed to do, time and again, on dozens of systems. No more having to keep separate cables for my camera and MP3 player and fiddle with proprietry file-transfer software. I just swap the card into this little reader, plug it in, and it mounts exactly like a disk. 90% of the computers I've tried it on recognized it right away, and current OSX and XP computers should be at 100%. It requires no power, has no moving parts to break, and reads and writes super-fast. It's excellent. The one drawback is that it only reads compact flash cards. With flash memory far from standardized, you might be happier with a device that can read MMC and SD cards as well.
