Very, very fast! [Posted on 2008-03-10] For years I had been using an old card reader that was a 6-in-1. I received it as a gift and figured it would work fine. After all, all I needed was for my images to get off my CF card and onto my computer somehow. Once I upgraded my camera, I found that uploading a full 2 GB card with my old reader would take an hour. I dealt with it for a long time, but it soon became a hassle.
This new reader is amazing. It uploads the same full 2GB card in five minutes. Having it now, I can't believe I ever sat around waiting for an hour for my old card reader to process everything. Best purchase I have ever made!
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT [Posted on 2008-03-28] This was the waste of money for me. It did not even work. I wanted to use it with my HP 6910p Laptop or HP Pavillion Entertainment PC. Both has docking stations. None of the listed equipments is older than 8 months. But none of them has the FireWire connection which can be used to connect the firewire and/or iLink cables that are supplied with the product. I also checked other brands and they did not have the appropriate connection port either. Then I said "...OK let's buy PCMCIA FireWire card which has 6PIN port..." whic I did. but the SD FireWire CF Card REader did not work again. I checked internet forums. Some folks got it worked but just by chance I think. On the other hand I investigated the rrot cause. The product needs voltage to operate. 4PIN (tiny, commonly used on laptops) FireWire ports do not provide voltage. But I still do not know what is wrong with the PCMCIA card. It has 3 ports, PC/Operating System (XP) recognizes it) but not the card reader.

Superb speed [Posted on 2008-04-14] Downloads images in a fraction of the time in firewire 800. Reliable data transfer and rugged assembly.
Speed Demon [Posted on 2008-04-26] I wish they made one of these for SD cards! I download RAW files from my Canon camera at what seems to be 3-5 times the speed it was with a USB reader. I can highly recommend this product.
disapointed [Posted on 2008-05-10] All the other bad reviews are true. The FireWire reader has to have 6 or 9-pin ports that are powered to work.
I am a proffesional photographer and only trust and use Sandisk III or IV CF cards. I could not get thereader to work on my new Dell. 4-pin firewire ports are the industry standard. Why would Sandisk put out a product that most computers cant use. I bought a PC Card 800 with 800 firewire, but it only works if you plug the pc card into an external power source. Way to many things to bring on the road. Way to many possibilities of things getting broken whne you need them both.
I spent a few days researching on how to get the reader to work and lost money for the time wasted.
Amazon sent me 2 of these readers by mistake (and charged me). I am willing to sell them both.
