For many years I have owned this pocket radio. [Posted on 2008-11-02] For many years I have had this pocket radio. It really works and is indestructible. I have dropped this radio more than a hundred times and it still worked. The only damage was that the bezel popped out and had to be glued back. The female jack for my headphone finally gave up and could only get the left channel so I was delighted to find it was still made and got another from Amazon.
This one is very similar though a tiny bit smaller with updated features. What I like about it is that it really works well in bringing in stations - it uses the cord of the earphone as the antenna . It has a digital tuner, is the size of a deck of cards, so it fits in my shirt pocket and runs on two AA batteries while the rest use AAA so I am not changing batteries often. I use rechargeable batteries.
The updated features are: you can now defeat the automatic shutoff after one hour of running time. There is a battery indicator why is nice is because this radio draws so little power that it runs right up to full drain until it shuts off abruptly. You now have a minute to change batteries without losing memory. There is also a bass boost. It is much easier to program.
Sangean Radio [Posted on 2008-11-03] This is our second Sangean pocket radio, the first one lasted 6-7 years before the battery compartment wiring corroded from a leaking battery. This new unit features new features, like the backlight and more memory, than the previous DT100 model. It should hopefully last as long as the last one. The only concern is the switch to Digital TV in February, I imagine we will lose the TV reception. That is too bad, as my wife uses it to listen to Letterman and the late shows with a pillow speaker. I dropped a star (4 out of 5) due to Sangean not addressing this issue which is scheduled in just three months.
Sangean DT200VX shirt-pocket radio [Posted on 2008-11-11] Sophisticated shirt pocket radio for personal listening. Small speaker does NOT have "room-filling sound." AM &FM reception very good. Good adjacent-signal rejection. Serves purpose well when it is not possible to listen to a table-top radio, or sound system.
Sangean pocket radio [Posted on 2008-11-16] The Sangeon Pocket radio is one of the better pocket radios that I have used. I made the mistake of putting a magnetically sensitive transit pass in my pocket when the radio was turned off and the transit pass still demagnitized. (My fault and not the radio)
Good radio [Posted on 2008-11-27] I bought my DT200VX to use during my long van pool commute when I could not hear the van's radio. The DT200VX isn't as sensitive as I had expected, but probably not unexpected, given the strength of the stations and the fact that I'm picking them up from inside the van. Other similar radios are probably no better. Sensitivity is much better around the house. Controls are easy to use once I became familiar with them. Ear phones give good quality sound. All in all, it does what I want and I recommend it.
