Very nice 300GB HDD easy to install into my emachine T2080 computer. Received purchased item within 4 days (regular mail) from shippers shipping date. Since installing the drive my system response time while playing PC games has improved. I am using the drive as a slave drive with my system PC games and the game (video lag time) has sped up allowing shorter waiting for system response time. My computer shows no signs of higher temperture with drive usage. I would recommend this drive to others wanting to upgrade their computer system themselves.

Cant go wrong with Segate. I got an extra 20GB by the seller "General Electronics" as well which I highly recommend. Comes with easy to use/understand partitioning software etc. Dont forget any OS b/f 2002 will require some additional software (free on web) to unlock the entire HD. Only can use 128GB with Windows 2000/ME.

It's Fast & Quiet [Posted on 2008-01-26]
I originally purchased the Maxtor 300Gb UDMA drive to use as a second drive inside my desktop computer. It served that purpose for several weeks. I also have a SATA hard drive in my computer and this one is nearly as fast, both in seek times and transfer speed. I think the 16Mb buffer/cache really helps. This drive is also quieter than my SATA drive.

I recently took the Maxtor drive out of the desktop computer and put it in an external USB enclosure to use with my laptop. It's doing a great job there, too. It runs very cool, which is important to reliability. I cannot comment on long term reliability of this specific drive since I've only had it two months, but other Maxtor drives have served me well for years.

I purchase this as a second drive to hold my growing music, pictures and video collection. Easy to install, configure and use. So far 3 months later the disk is working perfectly. only negative on shipping - delivery date was scheduled for Monday it actually arrived on Saturday afternoon and was left outside in the rain. I notcied it outside on Sunday morning luckly the rain had not made it through the packaging.

honestly, i don't know if this product is a good one or not. i've never installed anything inside my pc before i attempted to install this. i found that there was no slot inside my pc for another hard drive, so i removed my floppy drive and tried to install this hard drive in that slot. the screws didn't line up and neither did the "special" cord that would have connected both hard drives to the mother board. after hitting the town trying to locate a cord that would work, and not finding one, i decided to purchase a 750GB External Hard Drive instead. luckily for me, i didn't damage my pc during this failed process. i'm sure if you are familiar with working inside pc's, you would have no problems.
