Don't miss this! [Posted on 2005-12-31]
For the money, you will not find a better game around. Lots of action. I was told to take a chance on this and now I'm telling you to do the same. There are a few bugs but you learn to work around them. Great sound. The major drawback is you can't save a game. The game saves after you complete a level. This can be very frustrating but it's also a rush when you make it. One last thing, this game will take you hours to complete. For me, that's a good thing.

Surprisingly fun game! [Posted on 2006-12-21]
Although by now the graphics are looking dated, this game is so much fun it isn't an issue. When you first start playing this game, your impression through the first several levels is that this is going to be a very simple game. However, the farther you get into it the more complex it becomes. This aspect sucks you in and keeps your interest right to the end. With a huge array of fun weapons that alternate through the levels what is really surprising is the length of the game. Every time you think you're at the end a whole new scenario erupts. It will often amaze you how such a "simple" game can get so intense. The excellent musical score is resplendant in it's THX glory, and while the scenery is somewhat simplified, the game still does quite a good job of making you feel you've been whisked away to many exotic locations. There are many interesting details...while doing street battle in an obviously Arab setting, look skyward and check out the pairs of high altitude F-15's overhead. The periodic cinematics are well directed and elaborate. Game play and appearance are probably most similar to the better Delta Force games like Blackhawk Down. If you are not a cuttinig edge graphics fanatic, I can highly recommend this game without reservation. Get one for yourself and see what I mean.

The Chuck Norris of gaming [Posted on 2007-09-26]
Shadow Ops is nothing but a plain FPS. If anything, if is much like the formulaic action movies that plagued the 80s and early 90s.

The plot is, as with the rest of the game, stock action-movie filler. You are some superbadass soldier. There is a nefarious villain with a nuclear device, You jet around the world, performing missions in the jungle, the snow, war-torn buildings, a train and the Eiffel tower.

The enemy AI is pretty weak and it is not much difficult to kill them. Just shoot them in the foot, arms or torso, there is no difference. The tempo of the game is quite good however. I did not feel like there was dull moments maybe because I breezed through the game in 5 hours.

There are better games and there are worse games.
