Snowmobile buffs... wait! [Posted on 2001-02-04]
While snowmobile racing games are very limited when it comes to the PC, I highly suggest that you pass up getting this game and wait for a future release. My version, Snowmobile Championship 2000, has been a big disappointment. Why? With all the latest advancements in video game technology, for a 1999/2000 release, these graphics are very sub-par, not good detail at all. The controls are terrible. Accelerate is the up-arrow and left- and right- arrows are direction. That's it, way too basic. Also very uncomfortable on the keyboard. A few things I do like about the game are the 8 different tracks and the ability to toss your driver off the sled going 80 mph. I'm dying for a good snowmobile game and I tried this one. I guess I can make the recommendation that if you don't play many video games, this one might actually be okay. However, if you are used to the graphics and gameplay of any systems like N64, Sega, Playstation or games put out by EA Sports like me, this game just doesn't compare and is a step backwards.
