Easy to use, i like the white color.... [Posted on 2008-04-14] very easy to use, the color is nice too.the only problem is the speaker isn't very good when playing music.
It's okay... cheap... but... way too bright [Posted on 2008-05-05] I like the features of this alarm clock radio, but the display is SOOOOO BRIGHT! It could work as a nightlight if you need one. Otherwise I have to put a book over it at night.
Poor to View [Posted on 2008-05-06] I bought one of these ICF-C180 Clock Radios for my wife's birthday. I thought it was one of the best clock radios I have ever bought so I purchased 4 more for my kids. After using it for awhile, my wife, kids and I noticed that if the ICF-C180 Clock Radio is placed above you slightly, like on a higher night stand or on a nook right above your head, you cannot read the time at all. You have to lift your head up to be parallel with the display before you can read the time. This is extremely irritating. It I am surprised that no one at Sony caught this defect. Most LCD read outs have a way to adjust the display angle. If the clock is going to be parallel when viewing, this is an excellent clock radio because of the 4 adjustable times that can be set. I cannot recommend this ICF-C180 Clock Radio because of the poor viewing.
Better than any buzzer alarm! [Posted on 2008-05-27] Yes, it's too bright if it's right next to you on the nightstand, but just put a small tissue box in front of it and the problem is solved. A small price to pay for an alarm that really wakes you up without that nightmarish buzzer every standard alarm clock uses - this one has a 'melody' setting that repeats a short little series of notes. I can't sleep through it like I can the 'wake to radio' function, but it doesn't jolt me out of sleep into an immediate bad news like the average buzzer (still available on this alarm clock if that's your preference.) Plus you can actually keep settings for 4 different alarms on this little box - 1 for you, 1 for a partner, and weekend settings for both of you! And it has saved me on more than one occasion when the power went out overnight, without worrying if your 9-volt backup battery is still working. It's so good my boyfriend is replacing his alarm clock with this one too!
Useful for the deployed. [Posted on 2008-06-09] This clock is great! It keeps time very well even when the power is dirty. I was in Iraq where the power is lets say not as clean as it should be (in addition to being 220v). After hooking this up to my transformer (it's not dual voltage, only real flaw for me), it kept perfect time. Now I used other clocks including ones made specifically for 220v @ 50Hz, sometimes I'd lose 1 hr a day or more. With this clock I never had a problem. Fair warning: If you are the type of person to hits snooze a lot, you my hit the weekend setting button and turnoff the alarm.
