I paid below $15.00 and it does it's job. :) [Posted on 2008-05-27] I am very happy with it. It was so easy to set on my own with out even looking at instructions. I love how it has two alarms too!
Basically Good [Posted on 2008-05-30] A basic dual alarm clock radio with below average sound quality. That said, for a price under $15.00 it's still a great buy. It has large clear numerals and is easy to set the controls.
I don't think you will find anything better for the price.
"Automatic Time Set" Does Not Equal "Atomic Clock" [Posted on 2008-06-27] I bought this product assuming that "Automatic Time Set" would mean that this clock could receive the atomic clock signals and automatically set itself like so many other clocks on the market these days. Wrong. According to Sony, "Automatic Time Set" actually means that the clock time was set at the factory and if you are lucky enough that the backup battery doesn't go dead in shipping (as mine did), you may open your ICF-C318 and have an alarm clock *hopefully* set to the correct time. More still, Sony even saw it fit to print "Automatic Time Set" right on the front of the radio, so every morning when you glance at the time, you can be forever reminded how awesome it was that Sony set the time at the factory for you. However, as the battery in mine was dead, this message will forever make me remember how dumb I felt when I found out that this clock wasn't what at all what I thought I bought.
Besides that, there ain't much to say about this besides that it works. No frills and it's fine as a very basic clock radio. I'm glad it was only $15.
Great product [Posted on 2008-06-29] Easy to use, easy to see, dual alarm, maintains time during a power failure. Nice price.
decent device [Posted on 2008-07-07] relatively easy to operate, not too bright at night, acceptable tuning, somewhat tinny sounding but plenty clear, and anyway, most tiny speakers are like that. unique time and alarm setting knob simplifies doing that. i'm surprised how many radio alarm clocks still use analog tuners like this one. in these modern times digital tuners should actually cost less than the old style. if it had digital tuning i'd have given 5 stars.
