Turn up the volume [Posted on 2003-12-19]
Sony's newest style is visually stunning with lots of cool features, but..... the speakers suck. They are way too quiet and they don't have any bass or treble control. Since they market it as a computer/tv, you would think that they would put a decent sound system in it. Luckily, I have been able to hook up an external set of speakers to it, but it takes away from the sleekness and versatility of the computer. It also comes preinstalled with way to much junk software, and no operating system cd's for reformatting.

Given that, I would still buy it because it's fresh new style. The computer itself is really thin and the screen is really nice. It is cool to look at web pages in widescreen format. I would suggest to buy it, but only if you are ok with adding external speakers.

Best Computer Ever [Posted on 2004-02-15]
This is such a wicked computer, I own one of these. It is so fast, and that CD-RW is just great!! I owuld definelty reccomend this computer to anyone. The ONLY bad part is the quiet speakers. Whenever I want to listen to music, I have to sit right in front of the PC.

If you have lots of money and never need to repair or expand, this is the computer for you! [Posted on 2007-05-27]
I am a computer technician of 15 years, and I am constantly frustrated by Sony computers. The parts are proprietary and difficult to find, or test. Because the parts are proprietary, they are expensive. Combining the monitor, keyboard and the computer is a bad idea unless the computer is designed to be portable such a laptop/ notebook. A compromise is made in a notebook computer because it is designed to be light and portable- the Sony PCV-W510G is neither. This computer is neither a desktop nor a notebook, so the compromise is not justified. If the keyboard breaks, you can not run out to Fry's or BestBuy to replace it. Likewise, if the monitor fails you are forced to replace the screen as if it were a notebook. (expensive!)You have all your eggs in one basket and an expensive basket it is. Stay away from this one unless you can afford disposable computers like disposable tooth brushes.
