Customer Reviews:

Great laptop, Sony services could be better [Posted on 2007-10-30]
I just received this laptop last week and so far, so good. It is quiet and remains relatively cool. It is a decent size and weight, just on the border of being lightweight. It handles tasks very quickly and the display is nice. Battery life is good, if run in the power saving mode, but performance and display are sacrificed.

My only problem with this laptop is the lack of support from Sony. You pretty much have to stick with the OS installed (Vista Home Premium) if you want all your hardware to function correctly. When I first received the laptop, I installed Vista Ultimate, only to find out that there is no software/driver support available yet for the OS. I received no recovery disks with the laptop, but a hidden 5GB partition is in-built to recover you laptop back to factory settings as long as you don't format your hard drive.

The laptop comes loaded with bloatware which can take a few hours to sift through and remove. Some of these are required to have hardware function (i.e. Protector Suite QL for the biometric fingerprint reader), but most are useless or are trials. I suggest proceeding with caution when deleting anything as it takes a few hours alone to restore back to factory settings if you happen to delete something that was a necessity.

*EDIT*
It's been almost a month since I got the laptop. I've so far had no hardware or software issues with it. I have noticed that responsiveness in the keyboard is decreased when the mouse touchpad is enabled, probably from accidental mouse movement. One of the things I wanted to point out was the prime location of the USB ports. There is on located on the front right hand side of the laptop which is perfect for wireless or corded mouse USB adapters. I've seen a number of laptops with inconveniently positioned USB ports that make it kind of a hassle to use your mouse. I also wanted to point out the responsiveness of the laptop when coming back from standby. As far as sound is concerned, the inbuilt speakers certaintly not loud enough to overcome a loud conversation around you or a lot of noise, but in a quiet environment, they are more than enough. They're located on the sides of the keyboard, so the sound projects upward instead of toward you, which I find to be the only downside.

Perfect [Posted on 2007-12-25]
This is the best laptop I've ever seen for this price range, everything's working fine and it's quite powerful.
