careful with electric shock [Posted on 2006-09-25]
This is a nice machine except for the fact that when it is plugged it gives an electric shock to the user. Please search your favorite engine with "sony vaio sz electrick shock" and you will see that this is a common event. In the next month or so I will try to see if this machine can be returned to Sony and/or file a complaint with my state's attorney general. This is completely unnaceptable.

Awesome computer [Posted on 2006-12-08]
I did a lot of research on notebooks before finally deciding to buy this one when Amazon reduced the price due to the rebate. I'm glad I spent the extra money and went with the Sony Vaio with the carbon casing. My priorities were a lightweight notebook with good speed, and this fits the bill and more. I use this notebook to some extent as a desktop replacement but I have also travelled with it on long haul flights to Australia and Asia. I have absolutely no complaints: it's very light, extremely fast and the screen is gorgeous. Having previously used an IBM Thinkpad, and hearing iffy things about the Sony keyboard, I was a little concerned but there were no problems adjusting. I have downloaded several movies on it, and it performs extremely well. I have also run it down to the end of its battery life, and have not had any problems with it becoming too hot or suffering any electric shocks as some other people may have mentioned. The only (minor) issue I have is that it doesn't take compact flash cards.

GOOD ENOUGH [Posted on 2007-01-04]
I received it late because it seems lots of people ordered this model at the same time so the shipping is delayed for more than one day. Be aware even it shows "In Stock" but it may turn out to be late shipping.

Very Good Laptop [Posted on 2007-12-28]
I purchased this laptop over a year ago and I am still very pleased with it overall. I bought it from Best Buy and paid for the service plan. Since then I had to take it back once for repairs. I highly recommend if you purchase this or any other laptop, you buy some sort of repair plan. Laptop parts are costly.
I really like the compact design. I like to travel and have taken this laptop everywhere with little or no problems. It only weighs about 4 lbs so I can move in and out of the airport terminals with no problems. I also like the carbon-fiber case. It is very durable and cannot be scratched. They keyboard size is great. It also comes with a Webcam and microphone which is great for video conferencing. Some other features include a fingerprint scanner, SD memory card reader, and Bluetooth enabled. My favorite feature is the switch that lets you toggle between stamina and speed. The only downside is the cost. It is pricer than many laptops on the market.
