otr's needs this! [Posted on 2008-02-06] using sony mds since 2001 for music the md-mz-510 was perfect. 5+ hrs of music made me very happy.
found myself into OldTimeRadio shows and couldn't stop. the cds are mp3 recorded with 34-45 hrs on each cd. i would load into "real player" and record to minidisc using 5 to 6 disc in lp4 for each radio show title.
i bought in 2007 the mzm200 with its 45 hr discs and now "philip marlow" is now on 1 disc instead of 4.
i don't use the software. this is strictly "line-in" recording.
even with the price, i have 2. one strictly for recording which is always plugged in ready and the other for travelling.
recording "oldies" and "doo wops" where the songs are 2-1/2 minutes long, i have recorded 732 on one md-hd disc. put one in on a friday night and music all weekend non-stop.
all is well and perfect with the mzm200 except the price of the battery - $59.00 and it's short life span. 17 hrs instead of the published 19.
all-in-all it is well worth it.
Great device for special recording [Posted on 2008-03-18] I use this device to record off the radio for listening later. It works great for this purpose.
A wonderful piece of equipment! [Posted on 2008-04-09] I records all my musical ideas, with plenty of space to spare! It's excellent for live! recordings, and even better if you attach a line in from an sound output system for even-bettet-than-CD quality!
There is a lot more, but yopu have to but it yourself and see...it's time to put down some more musical ideas...
limited editing capabilities [Posted on 2008-07-18] This product has some real benefits -- powered mic, computer download via USB connection, etc. But it has major limitations in the edit mode. Cannot create groups; naming is only done through remote and is not intuitive at all. No search function. Having used several MD recorders in the past -- 2 of them by Sony -- I find these limitations to be more than an irritation. Why make new and improved models and do away with the ease of use? Makes no sense . . .
apple ? [Posted on 2008-10-03] why buy a ipod because you hate music ? this was the best damn sony
