other reviewers are liers [Posted on 2007-02-10] I have owned this tape and several others just like it for years. They are the best tapes I have ever used. I use them every day and I am very rough on them. I have had them tear up on me but it was my fault. In my opinion, the other reviewers dont know what they are talking about. I also read one review that said to buy a Craftsman tape. It must have been written by someone who works at Sears because Craftsman tools are the worst ever made. I quit buying them years ago.
Perfect rough framers tape [Posted on 2007-04-01] They're the only tape that I've used in the past few years. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I still have to occasionally replace it (about once a year), but this is under every day use... and very few tools last forever on a jobsite.
Heirloom Quality [Posted on 2007-05-13] Excellent quality. I was at a job site with a coworker & left my tape in the car. We were measuring with his craftsman brand tape & after a while I was sick of using such a flimsy tape measure. So I told him I was getting my Stanley FatMax from the car. When i showed it to him, he immediately felt the superior weight & feel. The tape glides so smoothly & feels very solid. After the job was done, he almost didn't want to give me my tape back because he loved it as much as I did. If you pay the little bit extra for this tape measure, you'll wonder how you got by with your old "flimsy" one. Take my advice & own this tape. I'm 28 & don't have any kids yet but can forsee my Stanley FatMax being proudly handed down to a future child or grandchild when they come of age.
Great tape! [Posted on 2007-07-28] The stand-off length on this tape is great. I've been VERY happy with it!
Mixed [Posted on 2007-11-26] Very mixed feelings on this tape. Usability it gets 5 stars, the stand off distance is way helpful, a minor issue with the hook, just doesn't grab. Major complaint on the tool life gets a 2 there, just over a year with once a week use. No replacement blades mean wasting a lot of tool, not very green. Not sure what I am going to do at this point.
