Seems to work great, XP just loads it automatically. Inexpensive but throughput test seems to be good.

So far, I've bought two of these and both have worked flawlessly. After a line surge (which had a surge protector) two of our computers ethernet ports installed directly to the motherboards quit working. Neither of these computers have "floppy disk" drives and so I was glad to see that these come with cd's to install the drives. However, the computer read the drives as soon as the PCI NIC was installed. I'm happy to say that both now hook up consistently even though one has been replaced by an EMachine and will be kept as a spare. The Startech 10/100BT card is a winner and very inexpensive. It just works and that is all I ask from any tool!

Works with Win98 but you have to download the driver [Posted on 2008-09-18]
Got this just a few days ago to connect a friend's 10-year-old Gateway 2000 desktop (266 Pentiuum 2, 160MB memory, Win98 first version) to her Verizon DSL w/Belkin router. My expectations were low but surprisingly it worked. Installing the card itself in the PC was easy. However, Win98 could not access any of the files on the supplied cd-rom. The downloaded (compressed) drivers file from the Startech site did have a Win98 driver that I was able to eventually install. (The downloaded info refers to the card as being by Realtek, by the way). Works just fine with the Belkin ME1004 router (original router setup was done on a laptop with Win XP). Lastly, it was a little annoying to see the price for the card on the Startech site was only $8.99...

Works great on old Win 2000 machine [Posted on 2008-10-21]
I had an old Dell Dimension running Windows 2000 and the old network card died. I was worried about getting a card that was not compatible with the machine or was not supported by Windows 2000, but I chose this card, put it in the machine, and it worked like a charm.

Not all created the same [Posted on 2008-11-18]
One of the sellers of this item is shipping a slightly different card. The seller says that this card is "AKA MOTOROLA LPC810." But, beware-----this card (the Motorola version) is NOT the same as the Startech product. It does not work in Macs!!!! The seller was quick to refund my total purchase amount, and that was nice, but he was really reacting to a low rating that I gave him. I maintain that this was misrepresenting the product because Amazon Customer Reviews clearly say that this card works with a variety of Macs and the one he sent doesn't. Don't make the same mistake if you have a Mac!! Frustrating, and of course it took a week to find all this out.
