Power to Spare [Posted on 2002-05-03] What a great power supply!!!I removed my old defective unit and replaced it with StarTech.com's unit, What a difference in quality. The StarTech unit weighed a least 1 to 2 lbs more than the unit I removed... There is no doubt in my mind the StarTech.com makes great products.
Runs hot, short life [Posted on 2006-11-14] I installed this power supply as a replacement from Gateway. From the moment I installed it, it did not cool sufficiently. Within a year it had failed completely.
review of PC power source [Posted on 2007-05-16] The product arrived in a timely manner and once installed worked very well. The only problem i encountered was it did not fit precisely into my PC. i have an older SONY VAIO and the screw holes did not match up. i had to drill holes in the pc housing to mate up the holes on the power source. also the cord was in a diferent spot so the back cover doesn't fit back on the PC. If you have an older pc you mayhave the same problem with fit up.. however it was relatively inexpensive and my pc works once again.
Spare pc works again! [Posted on 2008-09-24] I took my older pc to Best Buy ( geek squad ) to see if they knew why it would'nt start. After spending $60.00, they told me it was the power supply, the motherboard, a virus, and that i should just buy a new pc. I did a little shopping on Amazon and found this power supply, so i decided to buy it and install it myself. My pc started right up with no virus or motherboard problems to speak of. I guess if i knew it was only a power supply i could of saved the money going to geek squad. The only problem i had was the screw holes did'nt match up good with the tower. I was able to use a few, but not all of them. It is very secure even without using every screw. I read a few user reviews prior to buying and other people mentioned drilling new screw holes in the tower, but that is not necessary. I hope to get a few more years out of this pc now.
