stronghols crusader; more than just an expansion [Posted on 2005-07-29] stronghld crusader is not merely an expanison, this could be whole nother game. you have at least as many new units as old, plus four new oponents. you can have aliies now, and trade goods with them. the campiagne is much more challenging then in stronghold,so you shoulld becaome prettty weel oreinted before you play it. the custome game opption is a lot of fun because you set wich aponent you are playing based on your skill level. if you like games where you actually have to think about what you do, and enjoy building up your base before atttacking, this game is for you
Not too fun like it seems....... [Posted on 2005-09-27] This game is not fun after a while. If you really like stragedy games I will recomended but if you want to go to action right away or built giant armies this game is not for you. This game is mostly about castle builing, you built everything for example if you want armor you have to make an iron mine. After a while it gets the same and you get bored really quicly. The campaign sucks, its better if you do the missions instead.
One of my favorites [Posted on 2007-01-16] I LOVE this game!
You have a choice of: Crusader,Multiplayer,Campagin or Custom Scenerio! The graphichs are well done, the troops are not bad,and custom scenerios are awsome. In custom scenerios you start out with just desert sand then you build castles and terrain and set up your own goals and what happens when you lose!
Also if you select Crusader you have a choice between crusader trail or skirmish. Trust i is worth buying!
A solid, thoroughly engaging game [Posted on 2007-07-01] Stronghold: Crusader is a game you can really sink your teeth into. As many reviewers have noted, it is set during the Crusades in the Middle East, but what is remarkable about this backdrop is how absorbing it is. The music, the scenery, the sound effects all contribute to transporting you into this historical context and location. Even though much of the landscape is desert, the maps do not feel the least bit monotonous.
The game is extremely successful in capturing the nuances and subtleties of the time period and geography. Weve all heard the expression, "It's all in the details," and Stronghold: Crusader proves it. Some of the most satisfying moments of the game are the mundane tasks your peasant workers carry out: bakers flip bread inside burning ovens; masons expertly chisel stones into cubic bricks with only a few strokes; woodcutters plane trees into boards. All of these little actions happen right before your eyes, and it's actually quite pleasant to sit back and watch your community bustle.
There are battles too, and these are handled well (though they are certainly not the best in the rts genre). Generally, the two opposing forces are evently matched, each side having specialized forces that offset the strengths of the other's. The pathfinding is fine, but the AI is sometimes painfully unintelligent. Units will sometimes form disastrous congo lines when launching an attack, rather than attempting to surround the enemy.
However, these complaints are really trivial when contrasted with everything this game has going for it. Stronghold: Crusader is definitely worth a first and second look.
The Best RTS Game ever made .......................................... [Posted on 2007-12-09] This game is awesome I am still playing it year after year. Man and the Co-op game play is the coolest.
