Customer Reviews:

Nice Router [Posted on 2008-07-29]
This router is very easy to set up and is much faster than my previous wireless router. I was up and running with an hour.

The bet router ever -- at least v1.1 [Posted on 2008-08-10]
I've gone through a couple dozen routers,, including the previous 802.11n draft tew-631 from trendnet. This one is certainly the nicest and fastest of them all. However, there are two caveats: first, you have to get the latest firmware. Second, I originally had one that locked up randomly ever day or two -- ended up RMA-ing it and the new one hasn't locked up even once (AFAICT) in the last 6 weeks. I don't know if it was just a single bad router or if, perhaps, it was a problem that was fixed in the new v1.1 hardware (I'd originally had a v1.0). Anyway, the wireless negotiation is quick, the (new) router has been stable, and throughput is great. It's also nice finally to have a gigabit backbone on the router.

DO NOT USE THE INSTALLATION DISK! [Posted on 2008-09-03]

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THE INSTALLATION CD-ROM.

It will cause your computer to become unstable with BSOD (blue screen of death) and you'll have to reformat your hard drive to fix it. You'll find the router at 192.168.10.1 and from there you can connect and configure it.

Dont Buy This [Posted on 2008-09-10]
Ok I bought this since it looked like a deal. I'm running Vista home Premium on a New HP desktop. I worked for hours trying to get this device to connect to the internet. I could create a local LAN but nothing could get it up on the net. Their customer service was poor and didn't even know this product! I ended up with a Linksys 610N and it is great!

The best router I have ever owned! [Posted on 2008-10-09]
Pros: Ubicom Firmware for great QOS, with a ton of firmware options. Nice looking, and VERY stable.

Cons: None

This is easily the best router I have ever owned. Previous routers I have owned were the Linksys WRT-54G, Dlink DGL-4500, Zyxel X-550.

This router is FAR more stable than any of the other routers I have owned. For example, in both the Dlink and Zyxel routers, the "User access control" would always eventually lock up the router if I turned on logging. This router never locks up when I do that.

The firmware is actually written by Ubicom. I knew that before I purchased it, otherwise I would not have purchased a router from Trendnet. Its very similar to the very popular Dlink DIR-655 router. Only this router has larger antennas, more memory (according to an xblitlabs review).

The lights on this router are also just the right brightness. One thing I always hated about the Dink routers was the super blinding blue lights... which were cool at first, but quickly you wanted to cover them up because they become annoying. The lights on this router are just the right brightness... orange and green. Also if the light is orange, it means its a gigabyte connection... green means its not a gigabyte connection.

The wireless signal is even a little stronger than my previous Zyxel router. Although I'm only using it in 54g mode (no mixed mode).

If you do buy this router, *** make sure to update the firmware before you do anything ***. Mine shipped with firmware dated last year... and its the reason the router gets some negative posts.

I didn't install any of the software, I just type the router address of 192.168.10.1 into my browser address bar and accessed the config from there.

I have my router sitting in its included stand, sideways so that the heat escapes easier.

This is easily the best router I have owned, and I honestly mean that. I am not a Trendnet fanboy either. I don't understand why some people have problems with this router. One thing I never do though, is trust any review written by a person who has only one review on Amazon. Or a review written from a year ago using old firmware.
