Not for the VPs [Posted on 2007-12-03] This presenter is comfortable to hold and the buttons click nice and accurate, unlike other remotes I have used. The cursor action is slow, but some people may prefer that.
The big problem that I have with this remote is that it will not stay connected with the receiver. Turn off the computer, the remote, or unplug the receiver and you have to have them re-associate them with each other on the next use. This requires a key combination on the receiver and the presenter.
I personally don't have a problem with this, but it confuses the executives to no end. The manual says that it should automatically associate, but this isn't the case. It's a shame because otherwise I like this presenter.
Best bang for buck - plus all that I want it to do. [Posted on 2008-02-04] Nice feel, easy to use. The mouse has an "interesting" acceleration to it that I don't really like but will be easy to get used to.
Nice features, well laid out. The F5 function button is nice, especially when using it for surfing-based presentation.
Works well [Posted on 2008-02-08] As previously pointed out the cursor control is quite slow but other than that this unit works great. I especially like that the "joystick" can be pushed to generate a mouse click. I have not had any issues with this having to be re-associated after being removed. I pop the USB transceiver in the USB port, turn on the presenter and it starts working right away. Now I must say that I have found less use for this type of device than I thought I would have...
Comfortable and easy to use [Posted on 2008-03-11] The look is sleek and the feel is comfortable. Unless you're not near the computer, the mouse function is too slow to use for someone with my patience. It's like using a wireless mouse that's losing battery and is not very responsive (I guess it is a wireless mouse!). Using it to go back and forth through presentation is a breeze. I do recommend.
What happened to Targus [Posted on 2008-04-30] I'm a long time Targus user, so when I decided to upgrade my company's inventory of old wireless presenters I went back to my trusty Targus and ordered the 06 model.
Out of the 5 I've ordered, only 1 has ever connected. The site says it's compatible for some older OS like 2000, but oh no. A Windows 2000 comp won't even recognize it. And to top it all off, it doesn't even come with a USB extender like the older models. Customer support answer -- I MUST be doing it wrong, all the time, with every single one.
The sleekness and extra buttons (FN 5) does NOT make up for unreliability.
