A Masterpiece NOT!!! [Posted on 2006-11-03] Horrible gameplay with ridiculous "fights" meant to resemble some kind of combo-keypad moves like Mortal Kombat? Fine! If it would work and not be such a distraction from the what should be the real challenges of the game, the puzzles...which were mediocre and buggy. =O(
JUNK! DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY! WON'T INSTALL! [Posted on 2006-11-10] I have to add my voice to all of those who say that I couldn't install this game on either one of my "new in 2006" Windows XP Computers. What a joke! I was really looking forward to playing a good puzzle/adventure game. I called the tech support guys and was told "too bad... it's your problem." The stores won't take back opened software, so I'm stuck with a useless brand new game. If you're looking for a fun game that will run on a newer but not "latest video card" computer, try "Barrow Hill." It was just spooky enough, with lots of things to solve.
Would have had more luck installing a cardboard disc! [Posted on 2006-12-26] Did 2K, The Collective and Columbia Pictures create a game uninstallable on most computers to save money? I suppose I will save my money and the disappointment by avoiding games manufactured by these companies in the future.
Seriously - Don't Bother! [Posted on 2007-01-16] OK, I bought this game with great anticipation because I love the concept and I love the genre. Wow, what a huge disappointment when my 1 year old computer couldn't play it due to graphics card issues - it doesn't run on GeForce 4 cards. Not to be beaten, I tried to upgrade my graphics card for another $100. Did you know that you can't upgrade Dell graphics cards? Well, I couldn't. So I waited six months and finally broke down and bought a brand new computer with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card. Well, it's still no good. Now the graphics card is too fast! I tried adjusting it to slow it down, but the sound skips and the graphics are jumpy and the game is completely unplayable. Huge disappointment. These guys are on my list of games to avoid.
Which computers DOES it run on? [Posted on 2008-01-09] To be fair, I bought my copy of this game from a closeout bin at half the price of what Amazon's asking here. So, I'm only out $4 plus tax. But I sure didn't expect this!
It wouldn't even start on my newer laptop with the integrated and shared memory Intel video. My Dell desktop machine is a few years old now and the ATI All-in-Wonder 8500 is a tad older than that. It's got hardware rendering issues that make it unplayable - all the figures are ghost white and four triangles keep flashing from the center to the four corners of the play window.
Two things should have been done with this game that one can only hope will be done in the future: (1) don't build for the latest greatest computers because it's not that big of a market and you're very unlikely to drive very much of the upgrade market and (2) to the extent that there are particular requirements for your game, don't hide them in microscopic white print on the bottom flap of the box or on the first couple of pages of the printed manual.
I'll go through the trouble of making sure everything is as up to date as possible but ATI stopped providing support for this card awhile back now and I'm pretty sure I got everything as latest as possible here.
Meantime, I'd suggest you look elsewhere for entertainment. Sorry.
