Arcade to Game [Posted on 2003-01-03] First of all I played this game in the arcarde. It was good. Also it had voice support and everything. I don't think the game will have that! It will come out in Spring 2003 (I think) I hope it will be fun!
This is one Bad ... Trucker. [Posted on 2003-03-31] It looks to be like 18 Wheeler, which was one of the [worst] racing games I had ever played. So if someone says to me do you want to play The King of Route 66, I'll smile and say ... no.
Worst Racing Game Ever! [Posted on 2003-10-01] Not only is this game severely limited and restricted in terms of gameplay but the huge clumsly trucks are hardly the best kind of vehicles to be racing in. King Of Route 66 is one of the most linear, non-interactive games I have ever played. The racing locations are lifeless, the trucks are cumbersome and hard to control, you only get to choose between 3 different trucks to begin with, there's way too much repetition and zero excitement. Racing games, by their very nature, are kind of limited in what is possible but this is the worst. Get GTA: Vice City and play that. It's everything a game about cars/trucks/vehicles of any kind should be. Leave this drek alone.
BRILLIANT!!! [Posted on 2003-12-29] oh my gosh, this is a FANTASTIC GAME!!! When you start, you've immediately got 5 trucks to choose from! you get "King Of Route 66" (arcade mode) and "Queen of Route 66" (kind of like gran turismo mode, you get set challenges and power up your truck etc.) It's like 18-wheeler, but with nos!!! (nitrous oxide, fast and furious, street racing etc.) You get to drive the trucks with the trailer and without. The only down side is that you have to get into the King of Route 66 mentality i.e. if you see a cement mixer, you don't go around it, you go STRAIGHT THROUGH IT!!! :) The trucks are incredibly detailed, like if you select inside view, you get to see the little things hung around the rear view mirror, you havemagazines flying on the dash board... Two player mode is lots of fun, you hit the back of the truck and you get another "nitro" boost, but the other truck can drop boxes or teddybears at you! :) overall this is a brilliant game...
