I recently purchased a TomTom GO 700 (US/Canada) version. It comes with the full US and Canada maps on a hard disk inside. There is just over 1GB free space for other maps. Now, being someone that travels to Europe on biz, I wanted to load the latest maps so I can both find my way around by car and on foot. These maps are very detailed and provide extremely detailed POIs so you can find that restaurant you need in a jiffy.
The only real problem is being able to load all of euope on to the TomTom -- I estimated that there are over 2GB of maps if you load them all. Luckily, I guess, very few of us will need all of europe at a time. I was able to load all of central europe and UK (left out everything above Holland and also Spain/Portugal/Italy. The post code support is limited to 3 of the normal 6 characters in the UK, this is a problem that I understand I can get around by buying the full postcode database.
As TomTom gets more popular I am lookingforward to more maps and features.
