Excelent product for a reasonable price [Posted on 2007-02-26] This notebook is very good, is fast and the picture is clean. The only drawback is the lack of native drivers for Windows XP.
My order only took 4 days to arrive, very fast considering I used the free shipping from amazon.
so far so good [Posted on 2007-03-08] Setup was easy. Getting it set up in my existing home network was a breeze. (I may think otherwise when I switch over all the computers to vista and have to rebuild the network, but that'd be a vista issue, not a toshiba issue) It's much lighter than my A105 Satellite, so that is a big plus. I'm not keen on the bloat -all the preinstalled junk that most people don't care about- so I uninstalled most of it but a few things are still kicking and I suspect that, again, Mickeysoft and not Toshiba. The picture is clean, bright and after about a week, I am satisfied. I hope it lasts as long as my A105 has (and that one is still going strong after 5 yrs and will become the 'desktop' that controls our network and printer once I trade in my dell) The $[...] rebate and the toshiba eztrade will bring the end cost down to just under $[...] for me. Not bad for a new laptop!
satisfaction [Posted on 2007-04-12] Shipping was quicker than I thought it would be. It is exactly what I wanted so I am happy with my purchase.
Nightmare model from Toshiba [Posted on 2008-08-04] This model has been a nightmare. We buy Toshiba's all the time and they are usually great laptops. We bought 3 of this model though and its been a complete nightmare. We got them in the spring of 2007 when Vista was 'new' and we blamed all the problems we were having on Vista instead of on the hardware. We put up with the laptops (all three of them) locking up several times a day and freezing for no reason because we thought it was Vista doing it. We installed all the latest patches and service packs as they came out and replaced network drivers, video drivers etc as fast as they became available. We even tried upgrading to the business version of Vista. Still several lockups a day running hardly any software on them. It would even lockup with nothing running at all while you were away for lunch. We tried 'upgrading' to XP from Vista on a couple of them and the lockups and freezing issues were still there so finally we realize its this model laptop and not the software all this time that has cause the problems. Too late to do anything about it under warranty now so just replacing them with Thinkpads. Might be awhile before we trust Toshiba again.
