Cheap but no speed demon [Posted on 2008-01-07] I bought this item at the same time as a 16gb Sandisk Extreme III card for use in an EOS 1DS mark III camera. Since it is a 133x cark I had high hopes it would be nearly as fast at half the price but, alas, it took 50% longer to transfer the same files.
High capacity but maddeningly slow [Posted on 2008-02-05] I bought two of these to use as a Solid State Drive in my laptop. They do the job but only barely. Storage capacity is certainly enough. Bootup time is cut by more than 50%, from more than two minutes to less than one. Battery life is extended by about 20%. The laptop is silent, responds quickly and is a much nicer machine with its improvised SSD. The only drawback, however, is a big one: installing applications is agonizingly, maddeningly slow. Orders of magnitude slower than the old hard drive. It probably would have made more sense to use more expensive, faster CF cards or wait for the price of purpose-built SSD's to fall to my range.
Pretty darned good card [Posted on 2008-02-07] Other reviewers have trashed this CF card because of speed issues. The one I bought performs as well as any other 133X CF I own (others by SanDisk, Kingston & a 4gig Transcend). I can shoot blazing fast bursts with my new Sony DSLR A700. Totally meets my needs. Maybe it's a bit below the needs for CF computing - but for a camera it's very nice. And I get 2700+ photos in Fine mode at 12.2 megapixels a shot!
good card. [Posted on 2008-02-29] This 16gb CF card from Transcend seems to be a good card for the low cost. works well in my Nkion D200. Is faster then my Sandick ultra II. Over all a nice card for you DSLR Camera.
