Great but Macs must upgrade [Posted on 2008-05-02]
TurboTax is fantastic -- got us ~$5000 back after H&R Block did it incorrectly -- but you must have Tiger or Leopard on your Mac in order to run it. What a nightmare I've been going through with this! My Leopard disc was apparently defective and so now I'm stuck with an OS with problems, freezing and such. I only upgraded because of TurboTax. Otherwise, I would have been very happy going on with super stable Panther. Arrggh. But at least TurboTax whipped through our taxes with speed and alacrity and yet another refund. TurboTax is terrific, over all, worth the hassle.

Some great, some bad [Posted on 2008-05-04]
Intuit seems to get some things perfect while intentionally screwing up other details. By intentionally I mean details that worked fine in previous versions that suddenly give different results or answers. I was not eligible for a child credit. The software provides a helpful looking link that says 'Why Not?'. The link however does not answer the question but provides other links and speculation as to 'why not?'. TTax knows exactly why not. TTax forces you into guessing whether the software has made a mistake or not. How do you check? Anyone encountering this midnight on April 14th might have a coronary.

This is a very easy product to use and does an audit of entries and looks for red flags...you want the largest possible return use a $400 CPA if you want quick and easy (and Conservative) this is the best I've seen.

We received this product very quickly. The price was very do-able. We managed to file our taxes on time with minimal experience. My only compaint was the help section. I found much of it to be hard to understand and confusing.
