Great hub, especially for people who have USB Mp3 players [Posted on 2006-01-17] I got this for my brother because he has a Samsung Yepp YP-U1Z mp3 player, which charges off his computer's USB port. It works great for charging the Yepp and the top USB ports also let it double as a dock for the Yepp.
Died in two weeks, avoid at all costs [Posted on 2006-02-23] I bought one of these brand new and it only lasted 2 weeks. None of the USB devices are recognized anymore by Windows when I plug them into the hub. The devices work when directly connected to the PC. I also tried the hub on a different PC with same results.
When it still worked, I noticed that the hub ran hot but thought it normal. This is my second Belkin hub that died a premature death.
Would buy only these from now on... [Posted on 2006-03-09] I have two of these and they work great. I use one for my desktop and another for my laptop. I previously purchased a linksys 4 hub port and it was crap compared to this hub. I enjoy the two ports on top the most...very easy accessibility. If my need for more ports grows, I'll be coming back to amazon to purchase this hub.
If you use flash drives -- you MUST have this hub [Posted on 2006-08-19] I have had this hub for about a year and it is awesome. I recently purchased a second one for work. I use Flashdrives, SD cards w/built-in USB, an 80gig USB SmartDrive, and my iPod cable. Since I am constantly plugging and unplugging devices that I carry around, the two top ports are FANTASTIC. The hub is FAST and has never hiccupped. Everyone has a hub for printers, scanners, and stay-at-home iPod cables -- but if you are on the go, you can't match this hub.
Absolutely reliable [Posted on 2007-02-23] I have owned several hubs in the past and have never felt they performed reliably. There would always be some device that would suddenly fail to communicate and sometimes impact other devices connected to the hub.
I have had two of these hubs connected to my PC (HP Media Center 1050y) for a year now with 11 devices connected to them. I have a combination of usb 1.0 and usb 2.0 devices and all of them perform perfectly. I have found the hubs so reliable, that I have connected my external hard drives to them rather than directly into the usb ports in the rear of my PC.
I noticed someone said they had a problem with connecting this hub to a UPS to supply power. I happen to have both of mine plugged into a Belkin UPS and have no issues whatsoever, even during power failures.
Devices I have plugged into my hubs: two USB 2.0 inkjet printers, USB 2.0 Scanner, USB 1.0 UPS, USB 1.0 webcam, two wireless USB 1.0 game controllers, USB 2.0 memory card reader, USB 1.0 mouse, and 2 USB 2.0 external hard drives.
