lifesaver [Posted on 2008-02-09] I got all my data back!
It is much simpler to have this tool then to try and shove the old hard drive into a new computer, especially if your new computer is a laptop.
Handy [Posted on 2008-02-26] Very handy device if you have multiple computers and external hard drives. This can enable you to trouble shoot, move files or install software to any hard drive that I have come across so far. You dont have to lug around desktops if you just need to tweak its hard drive on another computer.
My only complaint is that the power cord is cheap and the outer insulation is pulling back exposing the smaller wires inside (not a danger, just unsightly)
Excellent choice, works with all drives [Posted on 2008-03-22] I needed an adapter to save the data off an old laptop that had died, and it's working just fine for that 2.5" IDE disk. With 3.5" and 2.5" parallel ATA and S-ATA ports and a seperate power supply, you can hook up practically all desktop and laptop drives out there, so this is a very welcome addition to my tool bag for helping out friends and family with computer problems.
(Some subnotebooks use iPod-style 1.8" disk drives which have different connectors, so this adapter won't work for them. But most machines sold in the past 15 years will have a hard disk that is compatible.)
Can't get it to work [Posted on 2008-04-17] It says that XP doesn't need a driver, and no XP drivers are included on the disc... but XP Professional SP2 does not recognize the USB device and I can't use my new toy. I've tried it on 4 machines here in the office and nothing is recognizing it yet. :-(
Great way to test ide/sata drives [Posted on 2008-08-03] This a great thing for people who are upgrading or changing different systems around. I have had it for over a year, used on CD/DVD drives large 3 1/2" & 2.5 drives. Just using it once will pay for it. Far easier to use than a case.
