Best notebook cooler ever! [Posted on 2008-04-18] This thing was designed by an engineer, not some sissy marketing maven. It's solid aluminum, not plastic. The fans blow air towards the laptop, which means it works with your laptop's fans, not against them. Besides, if you want them to blow the other way, you can reverse them with a screwdriver, wrench, and about 30 minutes time. The unit is deep enough that my 17 inch notebook is stable on it, although it overlaps the edges about almost two inches on either side. The cooler has numerous feet that grip the notebook and maintain the distance between them. I think this also contributes to the solid feel of typing on my notebook on the cooler - more points of contact means less unwanted motion.
This is NOT a cooler you can put in your lap and set your notebook on. Remember, it was designed by an engineer, and engineers don't use notebooks in their laps. That's what tables are for. (And boxes, and ice chests, and almost any other flat surface.)
Problems: 1) The lip in the front could be a bit larger. My notebook has a rounded front, and I would like a more "locked-in" feel. 2) It has a built-in and non adjustable tilt of about 15 degrees. That's not much, but if you are a good typist and aren't used to tilted keyboards, it can take some getting used to. You could put a paperback under the front of the cooler to level it off, if this is an issue
BOTTOM LINE: This is the very BEST notebook cooler under $60.
Works, but not for long [Posted on 2008-04-21] I purchased this cooling pan about 4 months ago. It has worked well most of that time. It cools my laptop very well, even though my laptop is larger than the cooling pad (19"). However, after only 4 months, the pad has stopped working. The problem is the cord. In the last month I've had to have the cord in a certain position to get it to work, and now it won't work at all.
You get what you pay for [Posted on 2008-04-25] Ah, well. It worked well for a few months and then the exposed wires at the back connecting the on/off switch with the fans got snagged on something and broke. I guess I'll spend a little more on a more well-made one now.
fits my Hp dv9500t [Posted on 2008-05-04] This laptop cooler fits my Hp dv9500t, but is not quit bidg enough. So I have to let the right side of my laptop hang over, but my hand only rests on the left side so it works out for me. I also had to remove 2 of the clear ruber legs and put them on upside down so the lip on the cooler did not get in the way. It cools well concedering it's too small for widescreen laptops.Temps have dropped a good amount while playing Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty 4.
Chill Pad for Laptop Computer [Posted on 2008-05-10] I have been very satisfied with this chill pad. It works very well, and there are four extra USB ports in it which come in very handy. The product has been very worth while purchasing and I would definitely recommend it.
