We needed to replace 2 DCX640 handsets, which are hard to come by at a reasonable price. I got 3 of these (added one handset to the system), and they were cheaper than the older DCX640s. Plus, they worked perfectly, without any glitches. We were able to put them right into the system. One reviewer already said this, but a big hand for backward compatibility from Uniden!

Works just fine, but registration difficult [Posted on 2008-03-25]
The handset does everything it's supposed to do, and was much less expensive to purchase than the accessory handset that goes with my DCT6465 base unit. Registering the handset to the base unit was a bit difficult because an important step had been left out of the manual. My first call to Uniden was of no help; I called a second time, had a different person, and she told me right away the necessary steps to register the handset. From then on, everything was fine.

I bought this phone a few years ago and I love it. I am in a new house with only 1 phone outlet and I can just plug the main one in the outlet and the rest of them in the wall outlets anywhere and I have phones all over the place. I even bought another handset and that was very easy to set up and worked on first try. The answering machine is very easy to use and the messages are nice and clear, not like my old one. I have a new grandson and use them as baby monitors. I have taken them with me to the flea market and we can use them as walkie talkies. These are great. I loved it so much I bought a second one for my daughter and her family and she loves it too.

We bought this handset to add a phone in the rec room. Saves lots of steps when I'm downstairs doing laundry! Very pleased with the quality.

Great Telephone DCX640 [Posted on 2008-05-17]
I have had this telephone for years. This is the best cordless telephone I ever owned. The reception is great, the sound is very clear on the handset and the speaker. I would not trade this phone unless I could not find another handset compatable to this phone. I need an additional handset and this is why I am in search of one at this point. I have not had any problems at all with this phone.
