Works as advertised. [Posted on 2007-09-26] Delivered promptly and the extension works as advertised as I wanted. Noise free without interferring with computer internet connection.
Hard to hear [Posted on 2007-09-27] Very difficult to position the phone to hear properly otherwise it is OK. Have had trouble with Second unit hearing that is.
5.8 GHz rocks! [Posted on 2007-10-11] I was disappointed in the 2.4 GHz Uniden phones I was using so I went to the higher frequency model- this phone is great- very dependable- great range and reception- and (very important) one of the few products WITHOUT an answering system built in (so I can get the message light from Comcast when I have messages waiting).
I highly recommend them.
Uniden TRU-9360 [Posted on 2007-11-08] Good basic multiple phone with average range and clarity. Price is fair. Features are better than average and easy to use & figure out. Sleek and stylish.
Down side is none of these has the range to leave home and keep talking very far. No speakerphone which is handy for those calls that put you on hold or through lengthy menus. Long waits make my ear sweat and neck cramp-up.
Peace.
Overall Good Phone System [Posted on 2007-11-08] Overall, this is a fairly good phone system. It has many useful features and the sound quality is good. This system is listed as a top pick of Consumer Reports
There are a few quirks which prevent 5 stars.
(1) You cannot make calls (i.e. use speaker phone) while phone is on the base. I would rather not have to take the phone off the base to conduct a conference call. Many other systems allow you to use speaker without removing the handset from the base.
(2) You cannot use the speaker phone with the intercom option. This seems like a very strange limitation.
(3) When paging another handset in the system, your own handset rings as well as the handset being paged (I cannot figure out the engineering logic to this one). The ringer is so loud, you cannot hold it up to your ear during paging. You have to wait for the paged handset to answer before putting your handset to your ear. I have found no way to disable this or to turn down the paging ring. You can adjust an incoming ring from an outside caller but not the paging ring.
(4) You cannot rename handsets. It would be more user friendly to be able to rename handsets as "Family Room", "Kitchen", "Bedroom" etc rather than the current "Handset #1", "Handset #2" etc.
I really liked the Philips CD4450B which is not limited by these issues. However, since it is limited to 5 handsets, I chose this system instead.
I would have thought that a company like Uniden, who has made telephones for a long time, would be able to get the details right by now.
