Extremely poor quality. [Posted on 2008-11-12] I'm on my 4th pair of these in 12 months.
Now this pair has a short. One of the speakers died, but I can sometimes get it to work by twisting the wire by the jack, but it's not worth it and it shouldn't happen. Mind you the 4th pair has the redesigned jack as shown in the product picture. The last 3 pairs had did not have the additional shielding which I thought was the cause of all the shorts that had occurred. Well I'm tired of shipping these back to california and having to wait for the replacements. I'm going to have to get a new pair of iPhone compatible headphones. I do not recommend these at all poor quality. Try ANYTHING but Vmodas.
Excellent sound quality, wish it lasted longer than 6 months [Posted on 2008-11-14] This is by far one of the best compact headphone I've encountered. The sound quality is excellent for your ipod, blackberry, etc. However, I'm already on my 2nd set within 6 months and I take good care of it. The plastic covering of the cord near the earplug broke on both sides. Although it didn't last as long as I had expected, the headset is good enough and warrant a repurchase. Ouch! V-Moda Vibe Earbuds (Gunmetal Black)
Great for air travel [Posted on 2008-11-16] I fly a lot between the US and Europe, often 10 hour flights. These earbuds are comfortable enough that I can wear them throughout the flight and at the same time, they remove about 80% of the noise in the airplane. The sound is not as good as my Sennheiser PX 200, but they allow me to play my music at a reduced volume, lessening the strain on my ear. If you fall asleep they do not bother you as a headset would. All-in-all, the best investment I have made for my iPhone.
All Your Bass Are Belong To V-Moda [Posted on 2008-11-17] The V-Moda Vibe Duo is a sleek and stylish headset. It comes with three pairs of silicone buds in clear and in black for the right fit and look.
That is the nicest thing I could say about the Vibe Duo. After testing these against the Apple iPhone Stereo Headset, the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi headset, and the Etymotic Research hf2 headset, I believe that these are inferior in terms of sound quality. The stock Apple headset blew out the Vibe Duo in this regard.
Let me explain myself. For most in-ear monitors, the buds must form a seal for good bass response and good noise isolation. But the Vibe Duo's driver alone delivers on the bass. Too. Much. Bass. Although I am not a "basshead," I appreciate good bass, something I felt was lacking a bit on the Etymotic hf2 before learning how to put them on properly. But the Vibe Duo's driver overpowers in bass, leaving the midrange and treble frequencies lacking.
The drivers also left the impression that something was missing. With the Etymotic hf2, and, to a lesser extent, the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi, I felt that music was more up-front, more "live." But the Vibe Duo made it seem as if something was being held back from the music.
Voice clarity was surprisingly good. I could control all the functions as with other headsets as well, though it was weird that the button was not on the same side as the microphone.
These are good if you want a step up from the stock iPhone headset, but not if you want the best sound. Superb voice clarity, great fashion sense, but lacking in what matters most: clear, crisp, and refreshing sounds from your music.
Great Sound, No Durability. [Posted on 2008-11-19] I had my first pair for 2 months, then the right ear mysteriously stopped working. Nothing I did made a bit of difference. I didn't have the original packaging (I had just moved across the country), so I was out of luck for the warranty.
Luckily for me, a friend had a pair that he never used. He shipped them to me and they worked for about 5 months before BOTH sides died (mysteriously, of course).
Ridiculous. How can they charge so much for something that lasts for 3-6 months?
While the sound quality is very good, I can't recommend a product that is so poorly made.
I now have a pair of Shure E4Cs on the way (which I'll be reviewing later)
Hope this helps.
