Does the Job. Recommended [Posted on 2007-02-11]
The label adapter is a little akward to use, but if you like the novelty of using the Digital Vinyl, then this is the way to go if you want CD's that look like records. If you already use CD Stomp (which is the best, but can't do Digital Vinyl), then you will be able to figure out how to use this software just by playing with it. Very happy with my purchase, and have already ordered a Digital Vinyl refill.

Misleading and Confusing... [Posted on 2007-07-26]
I've used just about every type of label out there as I've made a lot of home DVD's over the years. Most recently, I bought the Verbatim 105 Label pack because I needed about 100 labels for a DVD I made for my Squadron mates in Iraq. I thought by '105' labels, that I would be getting 105 DVD labels. Not true! I ended up getting about 30 usable DVD labels! So now I wait, in Iraq, for more labels to show up. The other labels were the binder labels, and other generic labels that I never use. Most of it got thrown away. Then the tool used to properly align the DVD with the label was confusing and didn't work well. I like the ones that are circular that the CD/DVD just sit on. This one didn't work well. Also, these label sheets are precut, so they didn't work good in the laser printer I used, probably due to the heat. I had 3 jam up in it, reducing my stock of labels needed by 6 more.

The software that came with the kit was ok and worked fine. I still like Nero better for doing labels, but because these are not any sort of standard label, you pretty much need to go with their software to do your labels. If I could help anyone out, I would just say "Stick with Avery or Neato. They make the best labels and are the easiest to use. Both have mostly industry standard labels that can be used with any label software."

Does Not Meet Expectations [Posted on 2007-09-16]
The labels are often misaligned on disks due to the label sheets no matching the plastic label holder. Labels are cut unevenly and will unbalance your disk. NOTE: Printable CDs/DVDs and printers that support them are widely available and affordable these days. Look into investing in them if a pretty CD is a must for you.

I thought they were great [Posted on 2007-12-07]
I bought this kit in conjunction with the 100 count refill pack. I didn't think the description was misleading but thanks to the review I paid close enough attention to know I was going to need the refill pack.

I have not used the software included in the kit already having other software (Acoustica) Installed. I would RECOMMEND scanning, and then printing the labels on plain paper when setting the alignment, because if your like me, it may take several sheets (like 10 in my case) before you get it right. Having gone through that process though, the alignment and printing are flawless. Nice looking too, I am very pleased with the way these look.

Using the disk applicator device really requires some care and attention to detail. There are small cutout tabs that remain under the disk and then pull out from between the applied label and the disk, ok no problem there, but some of them may come loose during the printing process. If so you just stick them back where they belong, but if enough of them are hanging loose it will cause problems with the label being properly aligned on the disk. Also having the label sitting perfectly flat in the applicator is important. Otherwise no problems with the application, a little challenging, but kind of fun I thought.

There is a lot of debate about the wisdom of using disk labels. I have gone through several hundred printable disks and those are great, no doubt about it. I also have a lightscribe burner, but for those disks that I burned back when I didn't have this stuff these labels are the cats meow. I just stick them on right over the sharpy writing and what a difference!

I haven't had any problems playing or using disks with these labels, that's just my own experience with them. The last factor here is price, those lightscribe and printable disks are expensive, so using these labels significantly lowers the cost of the finished disk. This really adds up if you do a lot of them. As far as the Amazon price goes, I thought I did a pretty good job of comparison shopping, checked out all my local office supply and discount stores and then went online and spent a few hours comparing prices there. In the end I thought on this product, Amazon was the best place to buy.

Verbatim Label Software [Posted on 2008-08-07]
Just received my Verbatim Label Kit. Excited to use but one issue, the CD containing the label design software does not work! My cpu will not recognize the CD. Has anyone else had this problem?
