Customer Reviews:

Amazing piece of Gear [Posted on 2007-05-05]
This was my first purchase of a lcd flat screen monitor. I bought it to replace an old crt 17in ViewSonic. The 930b is amazing. It is plug and play, XP Pro recognized it immediately.

I have an onboard video card, so I have to use the analog plug, but the picture quality is still excellent. Because I have a cheap factory video card, the tilt rotation from landscape to portrait does not work. However, this isn't a big deal because a new video card is cheap and most people who would buy this for the tilt rotation probably have a video card that supports it.

The view angle is also spectacular. I can see the monitor from all angles no problem without any loss of color. Overall worth the money.

A world of difference [Posted on 2007-06-08]
I enjoy my computer much more with my new monitor. Larger area, no glare, clear images and easy to read text. Plus it takes up a lot less room on the desk than my old one! I'm loving it!

Monitor was great while it lasted [Posted on 2007-11-26]
I was quite pleased with this monitor until the day it wouldn't turn on. Luckily I still had my old CRT which I'm now using. The Viewsonic lasted 14 months before dying.

I mailed the unit, per direction of Viewsonic, to Walnut, CA. They've had the unit at their facility for 3 weeks (15 working days).

Today I contacted Viewsonic (online chat room) to determine the repair status. I was told that Viewsonic will have to replace the unit with a like model - but they don't have one right now and don't know when one will be available! (I note that Amazon still has this model for sale.)

Viewsonic customer service is somewhat suspect at this point. (Understatement).

Be wary of Viewsonic's warranty.

2 have stopped working [Posted on 2008-01-14]
I had 2 of these hooked up to my professional workstation to do graphics with and 3 months ago one refused to power up after a restart. I sent it in through the RMA process and have now been waiting for a warranty replacement for 61 days. I can't get through to support on the phone and I've been emailing them for weeks to check the RMA status with no answer.

Today the remaining one won't power up after moving it to a different desk. I've read comments/ reviews elsewhere that indicate others are having the same issues. I'm guessing I won't even be able to get an RMA number for this one since it's the same phone number and web page I've been using to see what happened to the first one. I'll have to buy an "emergency replacement" now and it will certainly NOT be a Viewsonic!

Very Bad Customer Service [Posted on 2008-05-30]
The VP930b is great when it works, but 3 out of the 4 monitors I had did not work. Worst of all is their customer service. The first monitor I returned had a bad DVI port. Weeks after I sent it in, they returned the same monitor and nothing had been repaired. They tried to replace it with an upgrade to a 20" monitor without asking my approval. After explaining to them that I have a dual monitor setup they finally agreed that I could return the 20" monitor for a 19". Several weeks later I received a brand new 19" monitor and it was dead on arrival. Each time I had to return a monitor they explained that they did not have any in stock and I would have to wait. Finally after 6 months of this back and forth I finally got a monitor that was the right size and worked. Only 6 months later that monitor breaks down and here I am a year later with the same problem. I wonder if it will take another six months to get a new one. Now I know why the warranty is 3 years. I have used up one year already. I used to recommend Viewsonic, and have used them for years. Never again.

Update on my latest return. I received the same monitor back, without the DVI cable that it came with. Finally after receiving the cable a couple of weeks later, I plugged in the monitor to find that the color was distorted. Viewsonic has failed again! I am now going to send this monitor in for a replacement. They claim to have one in stock. I think they are finally understanding how frustrated I am (this is my 6th return). I hope this new monitor works.
