Excellent choice for the 1+ crowd [Posted on 2006-02-20]
I bought this for my 22 month old for Christmas. She loves pressing buttons and making stuff happen (Pooh's voice), and picking up the handset. Now that she's 24 months, she finally "gets" it when Pooh asks her to "Call Piglet!", and she presses the number 3 which has Piglet on it.

Frankly, I'm not sure it's worth $19.99. That's how much I bought it for, at Walmart, but if this is your price range and you want a toy for a child who is at least 18 months of age, and maybe up until age 3, then this is a great one, in my opinion.

One Serious Design Flaw!!! [Posted on 2008-01-08]
My son received this toy as a gift and I wish I liked it more. It has one serious design flaw... the string from the base of the phone to the handset is entirely too short! It is less than 12 inches. Even my infant daughter has to lean her head toward the floor to get the phone to her ear when seated, or the base is left dangling unsupported if she doesn't crouch over. So silly! Didn't they see this in product testing?!? Also, I don't like that there are no sounds that actually can be heard in the handset -- it all comes from the base. What's the fun of a phone toy if there isn't anyone talking to you in the earpiece? Still, it could be fun and educational for a young child who is learning their numbers; and I like the functions that helps a child to improve memory skills by repeating a given pattern. And the kids seem to like it because there is music and flashing lights. Like I said, I wish I liked it more! I wanted to!!!

one of our favorite toys (and we have a ton) [Posted on 2008-05-01]
I purchased this phone for my two year old. she loves it and even my 5 year old gets a kick out of it. it is very durable -- no problems and we have put it through a lot of use in the last 9 months. lots of great functions... the kids love to dance around to the music function. there is a memory game for older kids. and for the younger set, lots of "find it" type games teaching letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. finally there is a pretend function where they can "call" pooh's friends. so cute and fun. I love the positive feedback given for correct answers... like, "that's wonderful!" and for incorrect answers, you get "oh bother!"

the short cord is simply to prevent strangulation (probably required by consumer safety). we have never found it to be a problem. if the girls want to pretend to talk, they can just lift the phone up to their ear -- yes, the phone gets lifted off the ground but what do they care?

I think this toy is best for 2 and up.

could be a better toy [Posted on 2008-07-05]
In the box my daughter LOVED this toy at the store. She was enjoying pressing the buttons and it made lots of fun sounds. But once it came out of the package, 3 things annoyed me (and her).
1) The string on the phone is too short and she gets frustrated with that(although i see the safety value in that, so I can live with it).
2) the On/off button is part of the keypad, so if she accidentally turns it off, she is pressing other buttons and nothing happens and then she gets bored before i get a chance to turn it back on for her. I would prefer a switch to the side or the back that doesn't look like a button that is part of the toy.
3) There are 4 games to play with pooh where you have to choose the correct # or character, and only one option where the child can just randomly hit buttons. I would prefer another musical or number game where she doesn't have to choose the "correct" one to play. Maybe when she is older this won't be so annoying.

Overall, i think it can be a fun toy. My daughter is only 1, so perhaps for an older toddler who understands the on/off button and can follow the rules of the games, this would be a better toy. It does say ages 2-4, so I guess on this toy, that is fair, where some toys are actually good for a younger age then they say.
