Great game, even for a first in a series, this game had a good number of matches, great graphics, the improvement in the wrestling moves were amazing, the controls were great improved from the button mashing of Warzone and Attitude. Entrances are lackluster but the video background makes up for it. Very well done by WWE.

Hello and welcome to my review on WWE Smackdown 1. I use a grading system and each part of the game receives a grade. Then to determine how the show ranks the total of the section scores are divided by the number of sections giving the grade and a comment about whether you should buy it or not. The grading system is as follows.
Grading E- = 0 - 8.33%-Waste of time and money.
E = 8.33 - 16.66%-Waste of time and money.
E+ = 16.66 - 24.99%-Waste of time and money.
D- = 24.99 - 33.32%-Very poor event maybe read about it.
D = 33.32 - 41.65%-Poor event with a little something standing out.
D+ = 41.65 - 50%-Not a very good event but it just below passing.
C- = 50 - 55.55%-Just below average worth a watch.
C = 55.55 - 61%-An average event worth a renting.
C+ = 61 - 66.65%-Above average worth a purchase if you can find it for cheap.
B- = 66.65 - 72.20%-Good game with a lot of good stuff. Purchase if you're a collector or interested.
B = 72.20 - 77.75%-Good quality game which is worth purchase and should be collected.
B+ = 77.75 - 83.30%-Very high quality game with awesome stuff. Must have for anyone.
A- = 83.30 - 88.85%-Excellent game, must have for anyone. Lock this one away.
A = 88.85 - 94.40%-Extremely spectacular game with lots of great stuff. Lock this away.
A+ = 94.40 - 100%-Game of the century, must buy and keep in a very safe place.
Section One-Superstars-This game has a fairly good selection of superstars with about 35 or so to choose from. It has Rock,Stone Cold Steve Austin,Undertaker,Mankind,Chyna,HHH,Hardy Boyz and many many more. Great selection for their first game on Sony. My rating 9.81/10.
Section Two-Match Type Variety-This game has many match types including,normal,tag team,handicap both one on two and one on three,battle royal,Royal Rumble,King Of The Ring,three way dance,four way dance,I quit,cage match and a few more. The match types are very good with lots to do on them. You can defend any title in exibition mode which is also counted towards your win loss record in season. My rating 8.91/10.
Section Three-Create A Superstar-This section of the game has some good features except you can't make your own dude and edit everything about him/her. You edit your wrestlers profile and all the information about them as well. Then you start with the attribute part which is difficult as you have to build up areas to get new moves and how powerful you do them and that. This is a good section except there needs a lot of work on it. My rating 7.89/10.
Section Four-Create A PPV-This section is a nifty addition with lots of fun making your own matches for whatever titles and that. There is also a part where you can see the best PPV's and the best PPV matches. My rating 8.41/10.
Section Five-Season & Pre-Season Mode-This has two parts as if you have a create a wrestler you need to go through pre-season mode to build up your wrestlers statistics and get experience and that, then in season its the same shows as in pre-season except you don't get attribute points in it. Good storylines and setup for the season modes. My rating 9.31/10.
Final Thoughts, this game is a great game with lots of fun things to do and it has a long lasting appeal. The overall score is 44.33/50 which equals to 88.66%, this is a good score and it equals to an -A-Excellent game, must have for anyone. Lock this one away. This game was great except for a few little minor things,this is a must purchase in my opinion.

There r much better games then this but i liek it though. I saw sevral problum and tht is,is tht the story line is so short and also u only have a small amount of moves. U have ur Speical and ur regular moves. U press O then right,left,up,and down. ADn when u run. But other then tht its a cool game. They have cool matchs and some cool action.

Taking over the WWF/WWE videogame license from Acclaim, Developer Yukes and THQ made giant improvements in the graphics and gameplay of the WWE experience for the original Playstation, making the game experience look and feel that much more like what a wrestling fan might see of their favorite performers on TV.
For being their first try, Yukes came very close to perfecting this title with the only real weak point to it, in my opinion being the really lousy and limited set of options available in the Create-A-Wrestler feature which consisted of a few unlockables pre-built to resemble performers who had not otherwise been included and a large number of parts seemingly carried over from the games Japanese origins as the Toukon Retsuden series.
On the upside, building up your "created" characters in Season mode is quite fun, if a little bit frustrating in the early going as you try to improve your over all abilities and stats.
That flaw aside, the game was a vast improvement in terms of play and presentation over the Acclaim titles War Zone and Attitude, which weren't half bad themselves.
Ah, the good ol' days of the WWE [Posted on 2007-02-18]
This was released back in early 2000, when the WWE was in its prime. You couldn't deny the excitement and the greatness of this game or era. It was a major improvement over the previous 1999 game Attitude. There were a lot of great things about this game, but also some disadvantages.
The following are parts of the game I rate from one to 10 (with 10 being the highest rating):
Roster: 8 - It had 90 percent of the current roster at that time, but I think lacked some of the newer elite superstars, such as Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, and other superstars who were still active, such as The British Bulldog. It also only contained 3 female superstars out of the 36-person roster, but all in all, they made good choices.
Season Mode: 9 - Most people didn't like season mode, but it didn't bother me. However, I did find it annoying when unimportant cut-scenes, such as "I wonder what Steve Austin is talking about", popped up after every other match. Even with the pointless, corny cutscenes, it didn't have the 30 second loading screens the second game had or ten seconds to decide a winner of the match when skipping it (this game only takes a split second to determine)
Furthermore, in title matches, singles titles can sometimes randomly be held in 3- or 4-way dances, and not always against the same opponent(s) at every event in only a singles match, as is the case in KYR.
Rankings: 7 - It seems most superstars win far more often than others and are almost guaranteed to win their match (examples: Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Big Show, Undertaker, Mankind), even when their heart's are at the minimum and the opponent at the maximum. However, in comparison to Know Your Role, the rankings determine getting a title shot of any title at any time rather than being limited to a certain championship division.
Gameplay: 9.5 - People complain about the gameplay being outdated or lacking fun, but it was the best wrestling game for its time. This is the only game that tells you the name of superstars' moves and what their most powerful moves (white letters for normal moves, gold letters for finishers and favorite moves).
Overall: 8.5 - If you are not a fan of the current WWE, but were a fan of what happened in 1998-2001, then this is the game for you. idk what else to say but to tell you that it's worth the money. you now can probably buy this for a cheap price at your local video game store or some thing.
